Susan ekerete - Season 1 - Episode 6

.“What are you doing here, Asuquo?” Susan asked, her lips taut with displeasure. Seeing her ex-husband was bringing back memories of all the fights they had and the mental torture she suffered at his hands. She could already feel the muscles in her shoulders tensing up as he ran his eyes over her.“You look great, dear wife.” He drawled, letting his leer stop at her curvy hips as heignored her question and walked towards her. “You’ve filled out pretty well. I always did have an eye for a good thing.”“Ex-wife. You signed the divorce papers too, remember?” Susan snapped, her eyes narrowed. Just having him look at her thatway made her feel dirty.

For a fleeting moment, she wished she had not worn theshort red dress. “And if you take one more step towards me, I’ll have the security guards in here bodily throw you out, and then throw your car out after you.”Asuquo stopped walking, his own eyes narrowing as well.

For a moment, she sawan ugly expression flit across his face as his lips turned down petulantly. It was a visage she was familiar with, one that had preceded long quarrels and, towards the end of their relationship, even the occasional thrown object or fist. She stood her ground, chin raised defiantly. She had sworn to never buckle under this man’s physical or mental assault ever again and she didn’t even plant to let him win even a staring match with her.The look disappeared from Asuquo’s face and a smile replaced it. Bile filled her mouth as he transformed into the deceptively handsome man who had stolen her naïve heart all those years ago, only to turn it into a football and then throw it into a blender and hit ‘shred’ when he was done playing with it. his handsome face, wide shoulders and melodic voice had been the undoing of many women, and she had only been one in a series of victims for the Lothario.

She examined his handsome face, glad she feltnothing for him anymore.I wonder why I married this person, Susan thought, letting her disgust show on her face. She had no intention to remain there and stare at this walking baddecision.“You better give me a good reason why you are here.” She said curtly. “I didn’t invite you to my office and I don’t like the idea that you followed me here.”Asuquo raised a placating palm. “And I apologize for that. it’s just that I had been planning to see you and then I saw you driving past me this morning. how could I ignore that type of coincidence, Susiebaby? That’s the stars coming into alignment for us to meet. You look good, by the way. Have I told you that already?”She swallowed a harsh response, and chose to ignore the compliment. “When did you return to Akwa-Ibom? I thought you had left this ‘boring’ state forever, as you put it.

You gave me full custody of Cherish, so…”“And I don’t plan to contest that anytime soon, Susiebaby.” He said immediately. “I love Cherish, and only want the best for her. you know that, right?”Susan frowned, but stopped talking. She could not deny that Asuquo was devoted to his daughter, her only fear was that he coddled her a bit too much, and would very well spoil her if left to raise her. the little girl adored her father, and why not? He had been careful to make sure his childnever heard him shouting at her mother ortry to hit her. all females were susceptible to his wiles, his daughter not excluded. Only Susan knew what a terrible person he could become if he didn’t get his way.“I came in from Abuja a few days ago. I did plan to call you and find out where youlived and worked. Maybe even see if you were missing me, Susiebaby…”“Stop that.” Susan said. His oily attitude repulsed her. plus, her heels were hurting- the shoes weren’t made for standing in forlong periods. “Call me just Susan or this conversation ends right now.”“Just Susan?” Asuquo said mockingly. “Okay then, Just Susan.”She knew if she followed him down that childish path, she would get upset very quickly. She refused to be baited. “I don’t have to listen to this. You have just thirty seconds to tell me what you want before I leave you standing here.”Her ex-husband’s expression changed again and Susan finally smiled, a bitter small twitch of her lips. That’s right, she thought. That’s the face of the person I know is under all that charm. She prepared herself to hear something unpleasant. Asuquo always became bitter when he was challenged.“You can’t give me a few minutes to ask after my daughter’s wellbeing, but you canentertain strange men in your house, right? Is that what all this make-up, red lipstick and the tight dress is for? Your new boyfriend?” he blurted.Susan froze, her jaw dropping open in surprise. Was he talking about Michael? How could he know about that if he wasn’teven supposed to know where she lived? Had he been watching her all this while?
