The haunted bride - Season 2 - Episode 11

Ada didn’t find it funny. A chill travelled down her nape as she recalled what she felt earlier. When she had shared it, Ese hadn’t believed her.
“Oh come on babe, don’t tell me you believe he saw a ghost!” He guffawed.
Ada sighed, “I don’t know what your brother saw, but I am sure of what I felt earlier. Something isn’t right in this house. We should lay our hands on that prototype and move out, as soon as we can.”
Ese frowned, “I told you this story so that you could see the good part in it. I managed to convince Aniekan that someone was playing a prank on all of us. I intend to use this opportunity to frame Idara.”
She hadn’t been comfortable with his annoying laughter while he’d been sharing the story, but now that she thought about the good side, she nodded in agreement.
“You’re such a genius my love…how come I never thought about this?”
“Trust me honey, I will bring my brother to his knees. You need to get closer to Elena. I have a feeling that she knows where the prototype is.” Ese pulled Ada into his arms and caressed her naked back.

Anger coursed through Ada.

“The fool intends to rule over your brother. She isn’t even a month old in the White House, and he is already sleeping with her! We need to work faster. I will get to her, first thing in the morning!”
Ese was aroused by the determination that he’d ignited in her.
“I trust you baby, you can do anything.” His hands travelled further, until he found the sweep of her hips.

Elena had drifted off to dreamland, while trying to work on a plot for Demon Hall2. She had fallen into the hands of a deep sleep, which carried her spirit to a land of love, peace and wonder. She’d woken up to the sound of a loud pounding on her door.
“Geez!” She covered her mouth with her hands as her eyes went straight to the wall clock. It was 10.A.M. Elena jumped out of bed and rushed to the door. She had overslept! Sweat trickled down her brows as she imagined all the time that she had lost, while sleeping and having a dream of winning an award for Demon Hall2.
When she opened the door, she found Idara standing with a tray of Akara and a plate of milky custard.

“Go away,” Elena smiled. The aroma of the delicious combination had her forgetting her target for the night. How could one resist such a delectable breakfast on a Saturday morning?
The maid smiled, “Good morning Ma. I trust that you slept well.”
Elena parted the door to let her in, “My name is Elena. If you cannot call me that, then forget it.” Elena wasn’t comfortable with the formality. She just wanted to be addressed by her first name.

Idara smiled. She wanted to win Elena over to her side, before it was too late. Anytime she remembered Ada’s conversation with Ese, the fear that consumed her, was indescribable. She had been silent the first time, but she couldn’t let them hurt Elena in any way.

“I am sorry Elena,” Idara dropped the tray on a table.

Elena rolled her eyes, “You see, I feel better now, how was your night?”
Idara nodded, “I slept well…”

Elena was about saying something else, when she noticed that her laptop and her jotter were on the table. That was strange. She didn’t remember keeping her writing materials on the table. She was a hundred percent sure of this.

“Um, did someone come into my room?” Her voice was low, but Idara could hear her. Elena had lingered in the kitchen, hoping that Aniekan would return early. She had been waiting in the kitchen area with her laptop, pretending to be busy but deep down, she had desired his presence.

When Aniekan hadn’t showed up after three hours of aimless waiting, she had retired to her room, knowing that he wouldn’t return home.

“Did you notice anything?” Idara’s voice was jittery. She hoped that Ada and her evil boyfriend hadn’t come into the room, to harm Elena in anyway.

Elena didn’t know what to make out of it. Maybe she had dropped her laptop on the table.

“It’s nothing.” She sighed. Her eyes fell on a beautiful necklace on the maid’s neck. It was a golden chain, with a pendant of a black bird. Some people would find it eerie, but the artistic eyes of Elena found it beautiful.
“You have a beautiful necklace, where did you get it from?” Her hands touched the sigil on the necklace.

Idara saw this as an opportunity to warn Elena.

“Um, my former mistress gave it to me. She was a very nice person, just like you…” Idara stuttered.

Elena pulled away from the necklace and settled into a chair. She laughed.
“What makes you think that I am a nice person?” Elena rolled her eyes. People like Regina at the office, wouldn’t say the same about her.

“You and my former mistress share a lot of things in common. For starters, you look alike.” Idara winked.

Elena dropped the fork and looked into the maid’s eyes, “You keep saying your “mistress,” who is this person?”
The moment to spill the beans had come. Idara was about telling Elena all that she needed to know about Aniekan and the White House, when the door creaked. Both ladies turned their attention towards the door. Ada stood at the entrance with a bright smile, which could deceive the devil himself.

Idara wasn’t comfortable with Ada’s presence, but she knew that it was time for her to leave.

“I must go now,” Idara patted Elena on the shoulder. But not before lowering her lips towards Elena’s delicate ears, as if to kiss her. Elena was even amazed at this show of affection, but when she felt Idara’s soft lips against her ears, she knew that the girl was sending her a coded message.

“Please, be careful.”
Ada hadn’t noticed that Idara had whispered something to Elena, but she was happy to see her leave.

“Good morning Ma,” Idara bowed her head. Ada ignored her greeting completely, and stepped into the room.

Her visit came as a surprise to Elena.

What was Ada doing in her room? She had a bottle of wine and two glasses in her hands. What was this about?

“I know that you may be surprised by my visit. But I assure you that I have come for peace and not war.” Ada started sweetly.
Elena scoffed, “I am happy that you know that I am surprised. Who wouldn’t?”
Ada flashed a friendly smile, “Look, I am sorry for the way that I treated you. I just needed some money urgently and you played into my hands. I acknowledge my mistakes. I should never have locked you in that room or encouraged Ese to treat you and your dad like that. But I had a need Elena. My mother was down with kidney problems and she needed surgery in Germany.

I couldn’t afford that. I just had to find a way…I am sorry.”

Now that Ada mentioned it, the pain of that night flashed through Elena’s mind. Ada had been very cruel to her, and she had been bent on destroying her life. But looking at the lawyer now, Elena didn’t see her as a very bad person. People committed crimes for different reasons. Ada had only wanted to save her mother’s life. She felt touched by the story.
