My Boss - Season 1 - Episode 3

The next day at work, I got up to my office desk, arranged everything I got properly on the desk and waited for my first assignment. My desk was at a distance where I could see the elevator so I kept my eyes on the look out for my boss. I still couldn’t face him after he caught me staring at him while he was being all mushy with his girlfriend. Twenty minutes later, the elevator opened and I looked up to see who it was. You already guessed it, it was my boss in his fine suit and clean haircut. He did look like a smart and serious man but I was still worried about being caught staring or should I say spying at them. I watched him walk into his office until I got a call from my office phone that was seated on my desk.
“Miss Adams, I’ll need you in my office right now,” the voice which sounded like my boss said.

I stood up from my desk, dusting my skirt, I walked up to his door and knocked briefly before I heard him say “Come in.” I walked up to his desk, greeted him and kept on standing until he gave me some documents and told me to go over them, then send it to the distributing department for processing. I responded with a “Yes sir” and was about to leave before he called me back and said, “I’m not done with you, Miss Adams!”

“I’m sorry sir, I didn’t realize…..” before I could even finish my statement, he said he was done with me and waved his hands as a signal for me to leave. “Siphiwe!!! How can you be so stupid?” I muttered under my breath after departing his office. At least, I was happy he didn’t bring up the fact that he had caught me staring at him and girlfriend but was he angry because of that? Was he just always this stern? I sighed in relief and let it go because I had work to do. I went to my desk, went through the documents before going to the distributing department to hand out the documents. I got into the elevator and took it to the second floor, but on my way out, as clumsy I could be at times, I bumped into a man that was just as dressed in suits as the other workers. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t see you coming,” I said to the man who didn’t seem to be offended. He just smiled at me and stretched out his hand for a handshake.
“It’s okay. it’s normal. I am Sabastian by the way,” he said.
“I am Siphiwe Adams,” I replied shaking his hands.

“Nice to meet you. I haven’t really seen your face around. Even though this is a big company”
“Yeah, I’m new here, that’s why”
“Oh! I see. You’re welcome. Are you on your way out?”


“I was just about to go to the distributing department. My boss asked me to give them some documents for processing”
“Oh! that’s fortunate because I actually work in the distributing department. You can follow me and I’ll get them to start processing it”
“Thank you so much,” I said and followed him into his office before handing him the documents. He did seem like a nice guy. He looked like he was in his late twenties or probably early thirties, I couldn’t really tell. I thanked him after handing the documents and was about to leave when he asked if we could go out for a coffee one of these days. Honestly, I wasn’t a coffee fan but I didn’t want to seem rude so I said “Sure” and smiled at him in response. He handed me his card and I thanked him before leaving his office. I took the elevator back up to the floor where my desk was located. On getting to my desk, I saw a pile of documents on my desk. I already figured out what I had to do with them but common it was just my first day of work and I already had a lot to do. I was done with my assignments in no time and left for lunch break. On my way to the restaurant just across the company’s building, I saw my boss at the same spot I had seen him the day before but this time with a different girl who seemed to be all over him. Why do I have to meet him like this? I asked myself. I didn’t want him to catch me stare again so I decided to look away but just as I was about to look away he caught me staring again. I pretended like I didn’t see them even though I was so sure he had caught me stare, and went into the restaurant. I sighed in relief and went straight to take a seat by the wall of the restaurant. A blonde waitress walked up to me and asked for my order. I told her what I wanted to have and she took notes before leaving my side. In no time, my food was brought to me and I smiled with hunger in eyes. As I was about to dig in with my face down, almost buried in the food, I felt a manly figure stand before me.
