” who is that” i asked. I got no reply, i walked to the door, i could hear people talking outside.

I was anxious to know the group of people that came visiting or did oga(landlord) organize thugs for me, or was it cockroach, the best liar of the year?.

I walked over and opened. I sighed in relived as i saw them, they were the last people i expected. I met five men outside
“goodmorning” i greeted them.

I recognise the guy that said i should let him bleep aminat.

They all murmured reply.

I ignored all their question and explained to them that i had travel, just returning today.

I handed over the money to the korimakpa guy who grinned ear to ear. It was very obvious i was dupped. The way he grinned and the stares he was getting from his fellows said it all. I would have collected back 4k but decided against it. Today was their drinking day.

After pocketing the money in his left pocket, he motioned me to come closer, i obliged.
“oga you suppose add money give us personally, cos as you travel, we no cut your light, we know say you go come back. So find something give us na make we carry drink” he said smacking his lips.

What! What does he take me for? A mooron? I looked at him intently to check if he was truelly a human being. It was obvious he had the brain of adamu and silas, our gate man.

The other guys had kept quiet , they all wanted to see my reaction. I gave them a fake smile.
“okk una na ma padi naw but you go give me the 8k whia i give you now make i go bring 12k shia e go reach una?” i asked. What a silly idea but was so shock to see them fall for it.

He nodded and brought out the money which was now rumpled. He handed it to me.

All of the guys were watching.

I took two step backward, counted 4k out of the 8k and handed half of the money to him and pocketed the other half. He wasnt smiling,
“why you de give me 4k nw?” he asked. I glanced at the other guys faces too, they were not smiling either.
“na the nepa bill be that na abi e no complete?.” i asked walking back to my doorpost. His face expressed anger, regret and shock. They knew, he knew that i knew he was lieing,
“na play be this? wetin be this abeg your money no complete balance am sharp sharp” he said in a tone of command.

That infuriated me more.

I walked into the house and shut the house against them. I rushed in and continued with my preparation to the office. They crew outside had started banging my door, i could hear screams outside.

After sometimes i heard only one voice which i knew was the pot bellied man. Where were the rest of the guys?

I was soon through, i picked my hp bag and headed out of the house. I opened the door, the man stepped back and started asking for the complete money.

The other guys had gone. His greediness made him stay back. He struggled with my bag and i angryly shoved him away, he landed with a thud, like a log of wood on the earthen soil.

In a frenzy mood,He quickly stood up and launched himself at me. I dodged.
“wetin the happen for here” a voice i recognice said from behind. He was oga, my landlord.

Oga landlord walked over to us and asked what happened. I explained.
“so wetin you de wait for? When nepa bill turn two thousand?” oga asked, saliva flying out of his mouth.

The fat man couldnt talk, he only gave me a mean look and walk out of the compound. I just got myself another enemy, i prayed he shouldt be like adamu or cockroach.

I thanked my oga, he nodded. I got into the street and paid my way to the company.

The gatemen were totally surprised to see me, some said they thought i had died. Na them announce my obituary.

Many more people had been employed as new buildings were added and the compound was enlarged.

The receptionist, a new employee welcomed me. Her name was amaka I told her my reason of coming. She led me to mrs sandra’s office as if i didnt know. I didnt see aminat, josephine, mr simon my manager and the rest of my friends. But aminat and josephine always stays together in the the hall after the receptionist office. Where were they, were they sacked, or had resigned or chilling in their office?

I was scared, will she welcome me? Is there any vacant space for me to fill? I knocked on the door and granted entrance. I walked to see mrs sandra looking prettier than before, she was bubbling in good health, her company was doing good. For once, i envied her.

I could see the shock in her eyes as our eyes clocked into each other.
“good day ma” i said.
“bluestarry? Are my eyes decieving me?

We tho….. Oh sorry have a sit”. She said. I sat down.
“where were you all this while didnt you want to come back? i thought you had been discharged weeks ago?”. I had the feeling that i will get my job back.
“aah aah ma why would i not come back i was discharged but my parent came to take me home” i said foldings my hands in prayers.
“i thought as much. I even thought you were kidnapped or dead or something…..” i interupted.
“god forbid” i said shrugging my shoulders, she laughed. I love the way her b0s0m bounced as she laughed.

I was about saying something when a call came into her phone. It was her daughter, goodness. I knew from the conversation she had.
