Davis turned stepping back into the house,he slammed the door.

Rachel backed toward the fire. Davis tugged at the leather holster tie around his thigh.

It slipped away. He unbuckled his gun belt so it swung free off his hips and drooped from his hand.

Refusing to acknowledge his calculated movements, Rachel lifted her chin and met the brilliant hardness of his eyes with her own. He was only trying to frighten her,to punish her for stumbling into this idiotic affair, he wouldn’t hurt her, she couldn’t be that wrong about his character.

Placing the gun belt on the table, he walked toward her. “can you scream?”he asked softly he watched her chin go up another notch and something in the way she stared at him he eyes like doe’s wide and watchful and frightened, made him almost hesitate in carrying out his plans. “i asked you a question lady can you scream?”

“i _ i won’t kill me if you must but i will never give you the satisfaction.” she managed in a voice thick with fear.

“i like women who scream,” he said through his teeth, cutting her off she was so close to cracking.

Without taking his eyes from her blood less face he kicked out at the table sending it crashing against the wall.

Her tiny hands clutched together at her chest and her body shook.

“women always scream when i rape them.”

Rachel backed away farther and farther into the room where the fire was dimnesst and the coldness of the night and the rain seeped through the roof and gushed through the disintegrating mud of the walls. Something slithered across her foot, and she collapsed against the wall.

he smile “you should have joined a convent love. You have a faith of a d--n nun.”
turning her face away she repeated. ”i don’t believe you”

that faith that damnable faith…urz he wanted to wrap his fingers around her beautiful throat and shake some reality into her innocent head. Stopping he stood above her,rotated watching as little by little she shrank to the floor. And he hated himself hated what he was, he hated what he was doing and why going down on his knee he moved to touch his face and. . . . she broke springing at his eyes her fingers like claw she threw herself onto him her voice ragged and full of tears screaming “you b-----d! I trusted you! I had faith in you,you filthy lying murdering animal!you savage, i hope Sam finds you and hang you in El Paso. B-----d snake! I hate you!”
he tumbled to the floor on his back catching her flailing hands attempting to divert them before they could do more damage on his face,she sprawled atop higher hair like a cloud raining down on his face and shoulders and chest.

Throwing her head back, she glared through the wild curls and hissed. ” i cared! I truly cared for you despite the fact that you are a stinking dog.!”

wild eyes and spitting contempt she wrestled until he managed to force her back, pinned by his weight her b----t heaving she met his burning eyes with his own and sneered. ” you will have to rape me Davis for i would rather die than submit to you willingly”

“that’s not how you felt four nights ago,i could have taken you then”he countered
“i thought you had a heart and a soul then, you have neither, you are an animal!.”

his hands closing more tightly about her wrist, Davis narrowed his eyes. “don’t call me that don’t ever call me that”
she thrashed again

“stop fighting me i won’t hurt you if you will just stop fighting and listen to me.”

“liar! I won’t scream! I won’t give you that satisfaction! Animal”

he felt the hot stifling anger rise like a bile in his throat suddenly she was just like other women who had taunted him and accursed him of being an animal. When it was his very savagery that filled them with desire, grabbing her chin with one hand. He growled ” i thought you were different but u are not, you are a tease who tot it would be fun flirting with a man like me. Did it give you some sort of thrill? Did it? Did you laugh behind me every night when u curled up on ur bed wid ur bible did you? he struck out at the ground thudding the dirt floor by her face her body trembled her mouth cracked from the sun fell open slightly as the words began to take shape in her terrorized consciousness.like a trap animal she watched him cautiously from the corners of her eyes. Closer so his warm breath beat like a fast pulse on her cheek, he said coldly ”am not an animal i did what i had to do to survive. Do you know what its like to have to submit until you cannot stomach yourself any longer, do you know what its like living everyday of ur life trying to appease a conscience that won’t let you sleep at night or eat becos it burns the food and in your guts so you want to vomit.
Do you?……” fingers digging into her face,he shouted. “answer me, dammit!”
