Tonia: “So you are telling me that T-Baby went ahead with her threat?”


Queen: (HEAVE A SIGH)…”Yes my dear.! But i leave everything in the hands of the Almighty. Let him judge us all”


Tonia: “Uhmm…you are right Queen. But i am really happy for you. Finally you will be getting married”


Queen: “I didn’t say that i am getting married o. Please don’t quote me wrong. I only said that He is interested in me and plan to see me soon”


Tonia: “If someone leaves a whole America and come down to Nigeria to see you, only you- tell me, what does that mean?”


Queen: “I don’t know…you can ask around”

(BOTH OF THEM LAUGHED)

Tonia: “You are not serious o. But anyways, i am so happy for you. Just don’t forget me when you finally meet your heart rob”


Queen: “You eeh…okay i have heard you. No problem, i promise i wont forget you. Are you happy now?”


Tonia: “Why not..at least i can now dream of travelling to Amelika abi America”


Queen: (Laughs)…”Okay o. I have to go now. Talk to you later”


Tonia: Alright dear…take care and bye”



Queen: “Yea…you too”

FEW MONTHS LATER
(QUEEN FAMILY HOME IN THE VILLAGE)

Queen: “Mama, papa, My husband and i came to inform the both of you that we will be travelling to America in few days time. Since i am already through with my education, and Chidi based in America, we came to a conclusion that its best if i go with him and raise a family there”


Mrs Olisa: “Oh may the lord be praised. Finally he has brought joy into our life. Hia, Amelika, obodo ndi ocha, white pipulu. Chai, thank you jehovah”
(She starts dancing)


Mr Olisa: (Clears throat)…”Errm, well, what can i say- You are both married now and will have to be together for the rest of your lives. If going to America is what you have in mind, who am i to object. You have my blessing my children”


Chidi Nnachi: “Thank you very much sir. I promise to look after your daughter and love her till the end. When we finally settle down in America, i will send for you and mama here so that you both can join us there”

Mrs Olisa: “Heeyyy…Mua? (She said pointing her hand to herself)..Amelika, otutu diri chineke. This is so good, so my grand children will look like ndi ocha”



Queen: “Ah mama…which one is ndi ocha now. We are Africans and not Europeans. Mama you are funny o”

Mrs Olisa: “Whatleva my child. All i know that my grand children will grow up in obodo oyibo”


Mr Olisa: “Don’t mind your mother Queen. You know how she behaves”


Mrs Olisa: “Bia papa Chioma. Mind yourself o. How do i behave..hia”


Queen: “Its okay o. At least we should be celebrating and not arguing”


Mr Olisa: “Don’t mind your mother. So my daughter, when exactly are you planning to fly out of the country?”


Mrs Olisa: “She is also my daughter too papa Chioma”

Queen: “Ha ha mama”


Mrs Olisa: “Yes na…are you not my daughter too?”

Queen: “I am mama” She said, smiling

Mrs Olisa: “Now you are talking”
THEY ALL LAUGHED TOGETHER EXCLUDING MR OLISA

Queen: “So papa…like i said earlier, it will be in few days time. Probably this coming weekend”


Mr Olisa: “Okay..that is good. So my son, how is everything”

TWO DAYS LATER
11:47PM IN THE NIGHT

Chidi Nnachi: “Honey- You haven’t gone to bed, why?”
SHE STARES AT HER HUSBAND BEFORE SPEAKING

Queen: “Something is really bothering me?”


Chidi: “And what is really bothering you now?”


Queen: “Its about Aunty Grace children”


Chidi: ‘Aunty grace children! Who is Aunty Grace?”

Queen: “Its a long story dear but i will tell you all about it”

Chidi: “Am all ears dear”

THE NEXT DAY…

Queen: “I hope we will see them at home”

Chidi: “Yes dear..just relax your mind. Okay”


Queen: “Okay”

We arrived at Aunty Grace house at exactly 10:43am in the morning, it was on a Thursday. Oh God, i hope i will meet them at home. How can i be so careless to have forgotten about them. They were like my family, even though my last ordeal in Aunty Grace house ended in a bad omen which i believe was all planned by Amara, i still take them as my very own family. We alighted from the car, went straight to the apartment, everywhere looks untidy, hope someone is at home or else our journey will be in vain. I knocked on the door, no one answered, i knocked again for the second time, third time and lastly, someone opened the door…Its was Daniel, the only boy and second child of Late Aunty Grace Children. He was looking tattered, it was like he just finished serving a jail term.

Queen: “Daniel…do you still remember me?’


Daniel: “Your face looks familiar…are you Aunty Queen?”

…My heart skip a beat. Oh lord, he still remember me…


Queen: “Yes i am…how are you?”


Daniel: “Wow…Aunty Queen”…( He came over and hugged me, and i held him tight)..” You finally came for us, thank God you are here already. My sister is starving and there is no one to feed us”


Queen: “Where is your sister?”


Daniel: ‘She is in… Come in”


Queen: “Okay…honey, lets go in”
HE NODS HIS HEAD IN AFFIRMATION

Queen: “Precious my dear… How are you?”


Precious: “Aunty please help us, i am starving here. I have not eaten anything since yesterday afternoon?”


Queen: “Jesus Christ…has it gotten to this level?”

I had pity on them, i felt like crying…


Queen: “By the way…Where is Aunty Amara?”
