The Drummer Boy

She said she wanted to know why i left her, but i
just told her
that i was feeling so sleepy that i had to go and
sleep.

Well she
allowed me to sleep.

The next day joy left for school
and lagos suddenly became very dull, no more fun, no more
joy and yes
there was no more joy to bring joy to my di*ck
again.

On
saturday, i went for a rehearsal but most of the
instrumentalist didn’t show up and the choir must minister in songs
and special
number.

On sunday in the morning, i took my bath
went for
service. Now, since the keyboardist was not present
yesterday, it was difficult for him to play to some technical
songs.

Unlike a
drummer who will listen to the song and know the
pattern of beat
he will play. Be it funk, country beat, highlife,
warrior, aba etc. lol.

We had rehearsed funk worship kind of song, it
genre strings
between worship and funk pattern a situation where
you aren’t
playing funk or playing worship either so the keyboardist didn’t
even know when and where to break.

After the
praise and
worship, and other activities, the choirs were called
to minister.
Since we didn’t rehearse with the strings and other percussionist
players, except for drum and conga, there was no
way the special
number will go as planned.

While ministering, the
singers
switched to worship and as a drummer you must always be at
alert to switch too. You must know when to
improvise while
singing the Choir Master became aggressive with his
sign to me
and i reacted back. *let me stress, that before i took over the
drumming, the choir master was the one playing for
the church*
so sometimes he do have an argument of styles,
pattern and the
rest cos he felt he was kind off better. i could not curtail his reactions and i reacted back.

There are
three major problems of instrumentalist, one except
they have a
very organized and mass choir, instrumentalist likes
walking about, most especially if they are not member of the
church.

They won’t participate in prayers or anything
including giving
offering. Two, women remains one of their major
target apart from the ones that are filled with the holy spirit.

Three arrogance,
pride, stubbornness etc still remains a big part of
most
instrumentalist. That’s why some average singers
are scared of singing because they can disgrace you if they really
want to do
that.

So most times, many choristers and
congregation become a
close pal to them so whenever they are singing,
they won’t want to let you down.

After service, i was already boiling
because of
the embarrassment i received from the CM and after
we had
finished praying he raise up the issue and started
with me.

Before he could say anything i countered his
statement telling
him i won’t accept the blame and he should not start
with me.

He
should start blaming themselves first because it
was not what we practiced we sang which made him also angry
and we started
shouting on each other.

He got angry in the process
and said i
was on suspension.

Well what’s my business he
should take over if he wants to. Some of the choir members
pleaded but he
wanted to feel like boss and he insisted on his word.

Going on suspension won’t bring back my joy that
has gone for
service. i accepted his punishment went out and my lead
guitarist followed me.

LG: o boy why you do like that nau?

Me: no mind that guy jor. Na so him dey do jare

LG: wetin him do

Me: na since them start they sing the special number him don
dey embarrass me jare

LG: but you no for react like that nau

Me: i don’t dey vex already. You no hear the rubbish
wey him dey
yarn?

LG: eh even at that. Oya come make we go beg am

Me: beg wetin. Guy leave the matter, he go die
natural death
jare. We be man, we no be woman jor.

LG: ok if you say so sha. Make we go! Wait oh!
Where joy, she no come church today

Me: broda you shall wan make me dey think sha.
She don go
nysc

LG: dem don start?

Me: na on tuesday them go start jare.

LG: ok nau. Make we dey go.

We left the church and headed home.

There my
temptation lies
waiting for me. Could the devil had send this lady
personally for
my sake. How long will i curtail this feeling burning inside of me.

Only time will tell like enya had said.

When i got home i was already pissed off by today’s
incident i
just went straight to my room muttering some words
to mercy
inform of greetings.

She responded feeling a little bit
cold and told me that my food was in the kitchen. i am a
melancholy and
choleric by character. i can start cracking jokes and
laughing but
also can suddenly withdraw and be quiet in the next
second. i had lots of mood swing and am easily weight down
when
situations gets on me. i reminisce a lot and most
importantly i
have a strong logical reasoning and good intuition
base.

While i took my food from the kitchen i was suddenly taken
aback to the
incident that happened in church between me and
the choir
master, my contributions to the church in terms of
music and all that when i heard a shout.

Apparently this brought
me back to
reality.

The voices were familiar because its was
that of a male
and a female arguing over something.

Apparently its
a quarrel between my uncle and the wife.
Wo! Na them know, habi na wetin concern agbero
with overload
eh? No be today yash don get parting for back.

This
were
sometimes my comforting words jor because i knew that this two
people were back to disturb the little peace that was
left at home.

Mercy left the parlour for the both of them to enjoy
their quarrel. i
just taught within myself that humans are one of the most
ungrateful creatures in the world.

When things are
moving fine,
they will want to change it to bad and when they see
such bad or
evil, they become gentle.

When a negative occurrence such as
death, sickness, or others is not associated with a
particular
position people fight and shed blood just to get it.

But when great
sickness is associated with a position or thing, nobody will come
near it.

Some years back this woman was battling for her
life just
because of disobedient, some years ago, we were
running up and down just to look for where to get money. i
remember some
years ago while at the hospital, i could no longer
stay there to
watch a man’s intestine drop from his body i walked
out, i became cold and almost felt sick while still think of
what i saw
my uncle came out and told me that they have
started stitching
his wife’s leg and some drugs are required but no
antibiotic drug because of the baby in the womb.

After about 20
minutes i
almost threw up again, when i saw the might injury
that was on
her leg i guess that day still remains one day i
wouldn’t forget in my life.

My uncle was so happy that her bones
weren’t affected
and that she could walk.

Finally we were back to
square one.

The place she wanted to go and spend the night she
couldn’t go neither was the husband able to go for the wake
keep again we
were all back to square one. Just what disobedient
can cause.

The shout became loud, i locked my door and place
an ear piece on my ear, na them start am na them go end am
jare.

When them
they put something for something na them know.

When them dey
la obo ti oma fi di collabo na them know. So make i
pack one side jor.

After some minutes the noise went down
apparently,
they must have settled their differences and then
later on they
both went out. Husband and wife sha.

Mercy
knocked on my door and we both went to the palour to sit and watch tv.

While
watching she collected my phone and scrolled
through the
information and suddenly she looked at me and
shook her head and asked what is this? Immediately my heart
skipped and then i
knew she has finally seen it.
