Although his father was still having financial difficulty and hasn’t still gotten any feedback from

Kazim began to doubt if the receptionist delivered
the letter to him, so he decided to visit the man’s house and deliver it to him himself. The magnificent beauty of the house didn’t catch Kazim’s eyes. He ranged the door bell and was
attended to by a young man.

“Please is Alhaji at home? My father sent me to him.” said Kazim to him.

“I am sorry he isn’t. He isn’t presently in the country.” He replied.

“Can I drop this letter for him?” Kazim hoping he won’t decline.

He looked back into the house and said..”Just give me a minute let me talk to my mum.” And he
disappeared into the house. Few seconds later he came back.

“Let me have it.” he said, extending his hand to collect the letter from Kazim.

There was a big smile on Kazim’s face. He knew the chances were high now.

“Thank you. I am Kazim.” he said extending his palm him.

“I am Mustafa.” they both exchanged handshakes and Kazim left.

Vanessa twirled the ring round her finger, admiring it as if it was a rare piece of stone. It
was her engagement ring. Kross had come all the way from Nigeria to propose to her. It was a long way coming, after five years. It was perfect because they were both graduates now with
Vanessa running her own clothing line in London and Kross working in a top government
organization in Nigeria.

Vanessa looked more reserved now unlike her early wide youth days. She wasn’t too
enthusiastic anymore and wasn’t trying to get the media attention; in fact she didn’t care about

In Kano, Kazim was back from his master’s program in Austria and was working in a private
company in Kaduna. Humaira was through with college and just completed her national youth
service corps a month ago. Zeenat was in her final year in a nursing school and was engaged.

In the house of the Animashauns, Asmau was preparing for waec. She was a grown young lady
now, almost having the same features as Vanessa and dress style of Zeenat. She was tall for her

Vanessa, she was intelligent and lively. She was just like the young version of Vanessa. Her parents had retired from work and were very comfortable. During the holidays, they all travelled overseas and would come back replenished. All what they did was for Asmau.

After they had told her the truth about Sadiq when she was old enough, she almost lost it.

For
almost a year she seldom spoke, only giving short replies when spoken to and keeping to herself. Her parents gave her time and gradually she came back to them.
