Must Read: Glitches - Season 1 - Episode 12

Falcon divulged more information than he had expected, and worse still it was to strangers.

Newton couldn’t tell if he was disappointed or happy or both. Disappointed that the information he had been begging for months to be let into, had been exposed in its entirety to strangers.

And happy that he had finally sipped from the tap of knowledge he had been dying to have a drink.

The information Falcon just divulged was much cooler than what Newton had in mind.

‘’So, who are you working with, and how do you intend to curb this?’’ Segun asked.

Humans! Always wanting to know more. Even when told that Christ is coming again, they still want to know the exact date.

‘’Trust me friend, I wouldn’t be telling you this if I had other options. Information I’ve just given is highly classified and can’t be found on any search engine anywhere in the world.’’

‘’But you said you took a course in Scandinavian mythology where you were supposedly taught all these stuffs.’’

‘’yes I did.’’ Dr. Falcon admitted. ‘’what I didn’t tell you was that I took an aspect only special Ops were allowed to take.’’

‘’What, you’re FBI or something?’’

Kingsley asked. He has had the opportunity of hacking into local intelligence Intel but never had he done something as big as FBI, although he had nurtured that thought once but had quickly dismissed it.Trouble dey sleep, make yanga no go wake am o.

‘’An FBI agent wouldn’t be standing with strangers and divulging the United States secret now, would he?’’ Falcon asked, and wanting to prevent any further questioning, he added. ‘’I’m on the clock here to find a cure to this thing, it would do us no good if you keep distracting
me with unimportant questions so would you please… excuse us?’’
‘’Actually we can help.’’ Stella quickly said.

Her feminine emotional loftiness was getting the best of her.

Falcon scoffed. What wouldn’t he see today?

First he was threatened with an arrest and now he is been pestered with a plea of assistance.

‘’Even if I wanted your help, this is a highly advanced experiment. Much more advanced than your lay mind can ever comprehend.’’

Aaron took that as an insult but he maintained his cool. ‘’Hey mister, news flash: I’m a pharmacist. Stella here is a biochemist.’’ He said, more in a bragging manner than actually volunteering to help.

‘’And what about you?’’ falcon pointed at Kingsley. ‘’A microbiologist?’’

‘’Microbiologist, you gotta be kidding me.’’

Kingsley didn’t take it lightly with people associating him with the field of biology.

According to him, his brain was programmed using IBM’s Corelet language. ‘’Not in my second life… I’m a computer expert.’’

‘’In that case, I won’t be needing your help.

Newton is my computer guy.’’

‘’I could assist him.’’ Kingsley said, not wanting to be left behind. He wanted to see this experiment to the end. All of a sudden, biology was now so cool.

‘’And you?’’ falcon pointed at Tobi.

‘’Well, I could assist him too.’’ Tobi said, getting the wrong question.

‘’what do you do?’’
‘’oh!’’ He sighed. Thinking what a fool he was. ‘’I’m a pilot.’’

He didn’t tell him he was currently on indefinite suspension. He had disregarded a warning from the control tower some two weeks back, warning him not to land a plane he was flying.

The weather was bad and all flights were delayed while incoming flights kept hovering in the air.

Tobi thought it unwise for the plane to be on air in the midst of a wind gust. He forced a crosswind landing. That didn’t augur well with airport authorities as he was placed on indefinite suspension pending investigation.

‘’Oh great!’’ Falcon scoffed. ‘’ You can always fly your plane and run when this whole thing goes south.’’

‘’Does that mean we are now part of the team?’’ Stella asked, a bit anxiously.

‘’You didn’t leave me much choice, did you?’’

And right there in the room, a coalition was formed, a coalition that would later prove to be discordant.

Jeremy felt his life had been shattered. Was that him yesternight? No it couldn’t be. He couldn’t be so not in control of himself. He couldn’t be so much repugnant but yet infallible. He couldn’t be so averse to emotions – pain, love, regret.
He brewed his tea just as he loved it – low sugar, much milk. He heard the sound of a car and he ran to the window to check it out. It was Detective Dosun leaving. He had expected to see his parent coming back, probably in a friend’s car but alas, he was disappointed. He took a sip from his tea, it was hot but he loved it so. The thoughts of his parents clouded his mind. Yes they were annoying and insensitive but at this point he wouldn’t mind. He wouldn’t mind their shouts, insults and provocations. Anything to keep his mind occupied, anything to flush out the thoughts of yesternight was welcomed with both hands. He dialed his parents but both their lines were switched off, he retreated to fate.

After drinking his tea, he took his much needed shower and hit the bed. Somehow his energy had been drained and he needed so much sleep to get it back. He slept for almost all day before waking up. His parents weren’t still back so he just grabbed a shirt, stormed into his parent’s bedroom and searched some strategic places.

He found what he was looking for – a few bucks, with that he headed for one of the coolest joints in Mushin. Time check was a few minutes past six and the cool evening breeze caressed his body as he walked to the joint. He had this hunch someone was following him so he kept turning at intervals but saw no one. He reached the joint, it was a large outdoor bar where young and old came for their evening relaxation. He ordered a bottle of Orijin and a plate of peppersoup.

Two men walked in and sat just opposite him. He didn’t take a second look at them, maybe he would have realized there were outside his door just this afternoon. Darkness came sooner than he expected and he was feeling funny. The same kind of feeling he had yesternight before turning into the beast was what he was having. He stood up from his chair and staggered, hitting the table of the two men in the process.

‘’Come, wetin dey do you?’’ one of them asked. ‘’Na only one bottle the shark you like this?’’

He smiled at them, trying so hard to leave the place. His second step kicked the table again and this angered the men. One of them stood up.

‘’If you no behave yourself now I go beat you o.’’ he moved close to him and pushed him. Trying to start a fight, maybe he could get some information in the heat of the fight especially now that he was drunk. Jeremy fell to the ground and started acting like an epileptic patient.

The man turned to his partner and they started laughing.

‘’small push wey I push am him wan die, if I come slap am nkor?’’ he bragged. ‘’na so them go drink come the misbehave. E don tey wey I fight sef. How this small boy go come the kick table wey I dey drink?’’
People started watching the drama as it unfolded. The man kept blabbing to his partner but he noticed how tensed his partner was. He was shivering and shifting back while making frantic efforts to point at something behind the man. The crowd shouted in fright and people scattered in different directions. The man slowly turned back to meet something he had never saw in his life – a beast. He quickly brought out his gun and fired one shot at the beast but the bullet bounced off. He fired more but it seemed not to have any effect on the beast. The beast moved forward in calculated steps, flinged his hand and threw the man to the ground. The second man opened fire on him but it had the same effect.

When the two policemen saw the futility in their efforts, they joined the crowd and ran for their lives.
