He can’t continue living,he was going to tell the truth before his last breath. He picked up a pen and tore a blank piece of paper from a book he found in his sitting room. Robert began writing.

Standing in front of him were gun,a knife and a bottle one would guess contained poison.

Pedro stopped but not in a haste. He saw no reason to hide his relationship with Tiara from Liza.
Tiara,still clinging to Pedro like her life depended on it,thought of ways she could lecture Liza on the act of knocking.
Why would Liza just barge into her room? and does Pedro have to stop?
“Liza,I would appreciate it if you knocked more often”,Tiara said
“I didn’t know you were with someone. I wanted to talk to you about something”
“I’ll meet you downstairs”
Liza turned to go when she abruptly stopped and turned back to Pedro
“Where have you been since Tiara was attacked?”
Pedro turned to face Tiara with facial expression registering shock
“You were attacked?. Why didn’t you tell me this on the phone?”
“Something keeps bothering me. Immediately you left,the gunmen showed up,was it all planned or just fate cause I don’t believe in fate”,Liza said
He turned his face to Liza as Tiara turned his face back to hers “Ignore her”,that came from Tiara
“Did you go to the hospital?”,Pedro said, taking Tiara’s word- ignoring Liza.
“No”
“We are going now”
“Pedro…..”
“Don’t argue with me,Tiara. We’re going to the hospital”
“Okay, give me five minutes”
“Five minutes. I’ll wait for you downstairs”
As he made to leave, he felt an arm holding him back,it was Liza’s.
What was the meaning of this? What gave Liza the right to hold him back?
He looked at the arm holding him,at Liza and at the arm again.

“If you don’t get your arms off mine,I won’t be responsible for my next actions”
Liza quickly took her arms off Pedro’s.
She hadn’t expected that kind of reaction from the ever calm Pedro.
“I intend to get to the root of everything”,Liza said as Pedro left the room.
Immediately Pedro left, Tiara stepped forward to where Liza stood and slapped her hard across the face.
“What do you think you’re doing? Who do you think you are? You think you’ve seen it all because you have lived in the streets? You lived in the streets for three months,Pedro lived in the streets for thirteen years. Leave my room”
When Tiara descended the stairs, Pedro was on call which ended when Tiara stood close to him.
“Robert is dead….”,Pedro said “Suicide. He left a suicide note”
“What are you hiding? I know there’s more, tell me”
“The suicide note is missing”
“Wait a minute,Pedro. I don’t understand a word of what you’re saying”
“Robert killed himself and his suicide note is missing”
“Too bad for him but why are you making it sound like bad news?. Robert was no saint”
“It’s bad news, Tiara. The suicide note is missing”
“So?”
“Tiara,you just away the man’s company, do you think you won’t be mentioned in that suicide note?”
“That wouldn’t be bad”
“You have been arrested before and now, your name appears on a suicide note, the police will begin an investigation on you. Believe me that suicide note is bad news”
Tiara dropped on the nearest sofa
“God! I didn’t think of that”,She said in a low tone
“Be calm. If the police has the suicide note, you would have been arrested by now”
“So who has it?”
“That’s a question I don’t have an answer to”
“How did you know there was a suicide note?”
“Joel and Sophia found him dead in his sitting room with the finger of his right hand pointing to the table but they saw only a pen,no book or paper”
“What where they doing there?”
“I sent them to watch him. I will get more news when I see them”
“Okay. Look, I am totally sorry for Liza’s behavior”
He shrugged “It’s alright”
“She made you mad”
“Nope”
She stood up and wrapped her arms round his waist as Pedro’s hands cupped her face
“Say the truth”,she made it sound like a song
“Okay, I was but just a little”
“So?”
“We are going to the hospital to get you all checked up”
“Can we go tomorrow?”
Their lips met
“We are going now”
“Okay”
Both Pedro and Tiara left for the hospital even though they both knew there was nothing wrong with Tiara.

“So you decided not to come see me for five days?”
Pedro laughed “You missed me”
He took the right turn
“Your company, yes”
“Is that right?”
“Yes. Why?”
“Well,my momma’s gone”
Tiara sat up “What do you mean gone?”
“She’s dead,Tiara”,Pedro said as a matter of fact
“Are you okay. How are you?”,she asked as her fingers tracked the hard lines of his face
He laughed “I’m okay, Tiara. I am fine”
The gate to Tiara’s house opened, he drove in and the car came to a halt with none of the occupants alighting
“Does Richard know?”
“Richard was the one who called me”
“And Kendrick?”
“He’ll fly home next week”
“Elsa……”,she stopped herself
He tried to produce a smile as he touched her chin with the tip of his fingers
“You don’t have to stop yourself, querida”
“What’s querida?”
“Consider that a project”
“So I guess you haven’t heard from Elsa”
“No”,he said as he opened his door and went round to do the same for Tiara
They walked hand in hand to the sitting room when Tiara turned to Pedro “How come you’re taking your mother’s death calmly?”
“Because my…….”,Liza descending the stairs with a great speed interrupted him.
“Tia,thank God you are here”,she said as she produced a piece of long paper from her pocket.
“This is Robert’s suicide note and there are many things he mentioned- many names. This revenge is bigger than we thought”
Pedro grabbed the paper from Liza and began reading
“How did you get that suicide note?”,Tiara asked
