“What have you been feeding Kani? I don’t want you to poison his mind against his mother or I else I will make your life unworthy to live. I will start with your precious son, I will kill him slowly until he’s dead then I will do the same to you and kill your people like fowls. Understood?”
Empress Li shook her head. “Anie(No), I swear I never did anything, don’t do anything to my son.” Emperor Kan chuckled and clapped his hands. Prince Jilhe was dragged in by the Emperor’s guards, from his face it was obvious he heard everything that had been said. Empress Li gasped for breath. “No, no, you made him listen to everything? What has he done wrong? He is just ten years old.”
Emperor Kan shrugged “I don’t care, heed my words then he and your people will walk among among the living.” Empress Li went on her knees. “Chebal Pae’ha (Please Your Majesty) what do you want from me?” Emperor Kan laughed. “What I really want Cara Mia(My dear) is your death. This is just a tip of the ice berg.” After this he left Empress Li palace while she broke down crying.



For ten years she had kept her son out of the Emperor’s way, she had endured his beating, insults, humilation, public disgrace and scorn for ten years just to protect her son from the Emperor, she vowed to stop the Emperor from hurting her son and people even if it meant she would die.

Few nights after the Emperor’s threat, Empress Li cameupwith a resolve and went to see the Emperor at Young Hall. “Your Majesty, it’s me Empress Li can I come in?” The Emperor frowned and said. “Trowosio(Come in). As soon as EmpressLi came in, she knelt down. “Your Majesty please spare my son and my people’s life, I would do anything you ask me to please.”
Emperor Kan laughed. “A good mother, good.



What do you want me to do for you?” Empress Li brought out a scroll. “This contains a writing of promise that you will liberate my people after my death and after my reign, please put your seal on it.” Emperor Kan nodded. “Arata(Alright), I am tired of your people anyway, so am leaving, I will seal it.” He took the Royal Seal and sealed the scroll. “Just two things I want from you.I want you to kill yourself……” He gave her a sword. “……….and I also want your son taken out of this palace upon the announcement of your death.


Empress Li smiled. “Yes, Your Majesty.” She called one of her maids and gave her the scroll, after she left, Empress Li said. “Komaso Pae’ha(Thank you Your Majesty), your grace is immeasurable about Jilhe’s departure, it has been taken care of.” She unsheated the sword and put it at her throat. “Chankan.Not yet, you are protective of your things, I give you that credit. But your death is not tonight, it will be very soon. But tonight you will please me, remove your clothes.” Empress Li protested. “Bu-bu-but….”




He slapped her hard. “Remember this Li, if another mistake comes out of this like your b-----d son, you had better make sure I don’t know about it else I will destroy you, your people and tear your son to pieces.”

“I will leave you, the b-----d,your son and your people lifeless.” Empress Li nodded fearfully. After using her, Emperor Kan left her crying.



Irrespective of her problems, Empress Li loved both princes very dearly and not loving one less.



She continued to act as if all was well while she braced herself for the worst.

A few weeks after Empress Li’s deal with the Emperor, she started feeling feverish and weak, she nedded no physician to tell her that she was pregnant again. This time she resolved to let no one know about it. “Lady Doris, I need you to go to Young Village for me. When you get there ask of Xavier then give him these two scrolls.You don’t have to worry about coming back early, take your time alright?”


Lady Doris smiled “Yes, Your Majesty please be healthy.” Lady Doris left the following day. After her departure, Empress Li made a concotion with the most deadly herbs she knew her immune system could’nt detoxify. It was only her and Xavier that could make the poison and it’s antedote. She drank all and left no drop. She was sure she would be dead before Xavier’s arrival that was why she sent him a letter through Lady Doris to take care of the Scrolls and raise Prince Jilhe.”

The whole palace was thrown into pandemonium when they heard of Empress Li’s illness. All the physicians could not help her, they don’t know which tonic to prepare for her. The Emperor was not really bothered and Queen Lan was the most happiest in the palace while Prince Kani and Prince Jilhe sat quietly and listened to all forms of insults and sneers from Queen Lan.



Prince Jilhe was very angry with his mother, he didn’t understand why she would hate him so much as to want to kill herself and leave him all alone to suffer. Meanwhile at Young Village, Lady Dora met with Xavier who opened the scrolls and read the letter. He shouted.
“Anie(no),no way. Someone should bring me a horse, I have to go now.” Lady Dora looked confused. “What happened sir?” Xavier looked at her. “We have to go now, my sister is committing suicide or maybe she already has, I have to prepare an antedote quick before she dies. So, let’s go”

The Skornians were sad when they heard what hapened to Empress Li, they lit candles and prayed for her recovery. It wasn’t long before Xavier and Lady Dora got to the Imperial Palace. “I wish to see Empress Li.” The guards blocked him from entering. “No one can see her now, she’s ill.” Xavier grunted. “I know I have to prepare a tonic for her quick.”



Lady Dora came forward. “I am her Chief maid and this is her elder brother,Xavier.Let us in.”
