A week later, things didn’t turn out as expected because Empress Li went into labour, she was a week early, her pregnancy was not yet nine months old. Because of this a request was sent to the Emperor to let Empress Li be brought back to the Imperial palace for adequate treatment.




Fortunately he agreed. She was quickly brought back into the palace while Prince Jilhe, Prince Kani, Lady Dora, Xavier and many people feared and prayed for the baby’s amd Empress Li’s lives.



After so many hours of labour, Empress Li finally gave birth to a very beautiful baby girl who looked exactly like Emperor Kan, there was no difference. Well, the girl cried upon her delivery but after being cleaned up she smiled and laughed at anyone who carried her. Her smile was infectious. Empress Li on the other hand immediately went into coma after giving birth, the physicians were ninety percent sure she will die. The poison she took when she got pregnant also added to the problem, some of it were still battling with her immune system.
But the Skornians believed she would not die, they all prayed and fasted, every Skornian looked up to Heaven to revive Empress Li. Xavier, Lady Dora and the Princes made sure no other person went near Empress Li, they believed they can harm her or the baby, so they took care of mother and child together. The Emperor and other Philnians were stunned at the level of loyalty showed to Empress Li, they had never seen such but that was just the beginning.




For months Empress Jin didn’t do as much as shook, she remained lifeless. One thing was nobody gave up on her. One day Emperor Kan decided to visit her. He entered to see Prince Jilhe beside her. He quickly rose and bowed. “Your Majesty, why are you here?” Emperor Kan frowned. “And what kind of a question is that?” Prince Jilhe bowed. “Sanguamita Pae’ha(Forgive me Your Majesty), you never came to visit my mother when she was active, the one time you came you threatened her, I only want to know your purpose.”
Emperor Kan sat down. “Well, I only came to visit her. You can have your seat.” After a long silence, Prince Jilhe finally spoke up. “I ask of a favour Your Majesty. Please spare my mother and my sister, I know you were forced to marry her and I also know there is more to your hatred for her than the forced marriage but please she had never seeked nor coveted even the smallest power, all she wants is to liberate her people and leave. Chebal(please), let us go, she will never show her face in the Palace again neither will I. Please let us go.”



Emperor Kan was stunned at Prince Jilhe’s intelligence. “What’s your name?” “Jilhe, Your Majesty.” Emperor Kan nodded. “Hmmm, Jilhe, you are very smart I like that. But how am I supposed to know that this is not planned, that immediately you leave this Palace, you will not instigate your people against me?”


“How am I sure your mother has not instigate you against me? You must hate me for treating you and your mother like trash.” Prince Jilhe smiled. “My mother has one of the most purest heart in the whole universe. Ever since I was five years old, she will always tell me not to hate you that you treat her this way because you were forced to marry her and you never loved her but that you love me even though you don’t show it.The truth is my mother loves you no matter what you do to her, I guess she couldn’t help it. She even makes me eat the food you eat, she will always say.’Eat well so that you can be strong like your father and handsome like he is.’ So I always do as she says. But one thing is, I don’t hate you and I don’t love you either and I will never forgive you for almost killing my mother and sister but I will never harm you.”


“All I will do is to protect my mother and sister so that we can all leave happily after the storm is over. I don’t need anything from you, you always make my mother cry at night, I and my sister need nothing from you and we will never disturb you.”



Emperor Kan was shocked and speechless, he never expected those words from a ten year old boy. He knew all the boy said was true and he felt ashamed within himself. “Alright, I will leave you all alone but you will all stay in this palace there is no telling of what you will do if you leave.” Prince Jilhe shrugged. “I careless, I don’t except you to believe me, we also won’t trouble you.” Emperor Kan was disturbed, he didn’t know where the feeling came from but he wanted Jilhe to love him like he did his mother. Before he could speak any further, Jilhe’s sister woke up and started gurgling. Prince Jilhe carried her and smiled. “You are awake again, naughty girl.” She started smiling when Jilhe made cooing sounds and played with her forgetting Emperor Kan was there.



Emperor Kan cleared his throat. “What’s her name?” Prince Jilhe smiled. “Happiness, she was named so because she was always very happy.” Emperor Kan nodded, Prince Jilhe smiled. “Do you want to hold her, she is no trouble.” Emperor Kan reluctantly agreed. “Arata(Alright).”
When he held her he fell in love with her immediately, she was very beautiful, she was smiling at him and she was the spiltting image of him. He couldn’t help but smile back. After a while he gave her back to Prince Jilhe and stood up to leave. “Thank you for visiting Your Majesty.(Komaso)” Emperor Kan nodded. “I wish her a safe recovery” Then he left.

A few days later, Empress Li woke up. Everyone including Xavier was very happy with the exception of Queen Lan. Once again her plans over Empress Li had come to nought. “Maama(Your Majesty), thank you for waking up the physicians had given up on you months ago.” Empress Li smiled weakly. “It’s nothing. This is all because Heaven loves me. Where are my lovely children?” Lady Dora smiled. “Prince Jilhe is still at the Royal Library,he will soon be back.”



She handed Happiness over. “This is the princess, she is the apple of Prince Jilhe’s eyes.” Empress Li smiled. “She is a beauty, she looks just like her father. How is His Majesty?” Lady Dora replied. “He’s fine, he’s busy as usual.” Empress Li smiled again. ” Okay. What’s her name?” Lady Dora started laughing. “Happiness, Prince Jilhe named her Happiness, she is wonderful and she melts hearts.”
