Must Read: Laraba (Werewolves,Vampires, Witches)

“WELCOME TO LARABA; where love never ends.” Tamara read thewritings on the signboard and smiled warmly. She was back at the place
where it all started, where her life was knitted and formed into what she
had become. Where her life was strung out like beads before her. Where
she experienced the gruesome murders of two important people in her life.
Where she was destined to become a saviour in the future and an also an
avenger, because she kept it in mind that she was going to avenge the
death of her mother hopefully when her powers started sprouting. Laraba
was a place that would forever leave a tag in her life.

Tamara took a speared look at the sky, pitch darkness was hanging closely
in the horizon. The sky looked empty and starving of galaxy of stars;
except for the moonlight shining brightly right above human’s head. The moonlight was yellowish in colour—different. And it was the type her mother often called the ‘The lunar.’
Smile looped back on her face as she remembered her mother’s taradiddles
about the moon. Her mother had always asked her to make a wish
whenever it appeared so the wish would come to pass. She was however
disappointed at exactly 16 years ago when she made a wish with Khalid.

She made a wish to the lunar to make Khalid grow up to be a medical
doctor and also, make him stay by her side forever. But the wish was
turned down instantaneously when her mother shot him an arrow that
killed him immediately. Well, the disappointment then wouldn’t debar her
from making another wish today.

Still gazing at the lunar brought back some memories into her head. The
short-term relationship she had with Khalid—the best man in her world
kept coming back with full force. It started with the day they first met. The
day that happened to be their birthdays and the day they learnt the truth
about their fathers who died in the same cave. That was actually the day
she fell in love with him, but had to shroud it from him even after
bequeathing him her virginity. She didn’t want to give him a wrong
impression about her then—she was definitely regretting the decision now.
Khalid died without her confessing how much she loved him. Then her
memory lane swirled and later perched on the day she had her first kiss.

That was the night of bliss that eventually turned blistery to her with a
living scar which was Amanda. That was the night she would never forget in her hurry. The night she lost her best friend, her lover and her
companion—Khalid.

Tamara was getting so emotional now that her smile had morphed into a
sad face, while tears had started pouring from her eyes forming a rill on
her face. She clutched tightly to Amanda to tap some comfort from her. The
young girl cuddled her mother in return, oozing out the comfort her
mother needed from her.

“Darling, get prepared we are going into the cave now to mourn your
father.”
she said wearily in a snivel.

Amanda only nodded as usual; she was still disbelieving her mother about
her father being dead. She had this strong urge that her father was still
alive.

“So you still insist that my father is dead?” Amanda cooed in softly.

“Darling let’s go, before the moon fades. We’re also going to make a wish.”
Tamara said, waving aside Amanda’s mutter. She had answered that
question myriad of times. She wondered why Amanda wouldn’t just let go
and admit that her father was indeed dead.
“Mom, are we going to see Jamal now that we’re back at Laraba.” Amanda
asked mother as they tread towards the cave. But her mother remained
silent because didn’t know the right answer to give. As much as she would
love to see Jamal, she still couldn’t admit that the very day she dedicated to mourn her Khalid. So she remained silence, and it was kind of causing
Amanda some discomforts.

“Mom, I think Jamal is a good man compare to his brother. I want you to
…”
“Amanda!”
she yelled, cutting her short. “Jamal’s brother accommodated
us for more than year.”
Tamara replied, testing her daughter’s wit. “He
buys you ice-cream and takes you out on campers a lot you know?”

“But mom, that doesn’t make him better. Remember Jamal also gave me a
free treatment. He saved my life. There would be nobody for Hilton to
accommodate and buy ice-cream for if Jamal had left me to die.”
Amanda
countered. “Mom, I want us to find him so that you can say your thank-
you.”

Tamara had a knowing smile on her lips. “Alright darling, that will be after
tonight.”
She said while Amanda was happy as they both entered the cave.
