Must Read: King Arthur

I polished my shoe 2-3 times just to make sure it
was very neat. I was finally satisfied when I
discovered that a little bit too much of the ‘Kiwi’
polish had been used for tuesday morning alone. I pressed my uniforms like my life depended on it, I was ready to dress to kill. After about 45 minutes of preparation, I left for school, I was a little bit late, than usual, I met the early morning
assembly still going, I quickly clung to the ‘cliq’ of students marching in to the class. When we got
to the class I received compliments from boys
and girls, friends and foes alike, but there was
only one person I wanted to hear those
compliments from, Vanessa. As I thought of her, I
sighted her from afar, she had those long braids,
that were beautifully plaited, she looked as
dazzling as ever, she had that million dollar smile
on, “wao” I heard myself saying softly, almost audible enough for Ruki, my seat mate to hear,
Vanessa was about my height, chocolate skinned,
thin, she had a rounded goodness embedded in
her, she was a little bit too pretty for her age. She
walked to my seat, and I could even appreciate
her beauty more; “God is great” I said. We exchanged pleasantries, then I asked her if she was going to a party from school, she laughed and asked why then I told her that she looked very pretty, I noticed that she was blushing,
I complimented her the more, as I waited for her to reciprocate, **did she? Nah she didn’t** our form mistress Miss Adesola, came into the class and announced that she was going to reshuffle our seating arrangement, I started praying that my new seat mate should be Vanessa, of course I was going to miss Ruki.

The seating arrangement was reshuffled, I had a
new seat mate, it was not Ruki, Sade or even
Vanessa, it was Pearl, the Devil herself, as some
guys called her. I wanted to protest for a change
but immediately killed the idea as it was too
childish and did not want to make it look like I
was hiding something which I was not (for now).
During break time while some people took time to
explore their new seat mate I did not instead I left
for Vanessa’s.

The atmosphere around her was calm and I loved
it, we talked about almost everything, apart from
an “US” , she looked even more beautiful, it was as if I was the only one seeing it, hope it was not what I was thinking about; ‘Love’ i once read
that a person who is in love starts to see what
others don’t see in the person they are attracted to .

I dismissed both thoughts as I remembered that the place I read it from, was a comedy
journal lol. Vanessa said something, I thought she
said ‘I love you’ she actually asked me what we had next, ‘Mehn am definitely hearing things’ I said to myself, asking myself one mega question,
could this be love?

**Was I actually in love with Vanessa?**
