Must Read: King Arthur

All was not well, Me and Vanessa had been dating for two months now, and it was always the same old tale. I could no longer bear the hurt anymore. We were almost through with our WAEC exams, if I did not do it now then I wonder when. We were simply not ‘compactable’. I wondered if we weren’t even better as friends. I did not want to bear that burden anymore. It was now or never.

I told Sade about it, she was shocked and asked why. Of course she knew why I wanted to break-up.

Vanessa was my first girlfriend and yet it felt like this whole thing was a mistake. I knew Vanessa since our Primary school days. I did not even know what next. I did not want to loose her but I could not continue hurting myself all in the name of love.

I know I am not supposed to say this but I kind of preferred Pearl a little bit, at least she called and always made me happy even when I was angry.
Even when she did not, she returned my calls.
The few time I spent with Pearl, I was happy. Do opposites attract? Hell no
I made up my mind to tell her about it.

I called her that day after our Biology exams. It was a rough day for me, I needed to do it. It rang twice then she ended the call. I was not surprised, maybe she was busy. I sent her a text, simply asking for a break-up. Immediately I got the delivery report. And for the first time in a very long time, a call from Vanessa.

Vanessa: Hello

Me: hi

Vanessa: Do you mean what you just said

Me: Sure

Vanessa: But I thought you were happy about US

Me: Now you know.

(It was sounding like a Police interrogation until I heard this)

Vanessa: Ok am sorry for everything can we just start again?

Me: I don’t know, am not sure
(I was surely bent on ending everything)

Vanessa: (she sighed like someone who did not know what next) Please

Me: (silent)

Vanessa: Ok let’s date for one week only. If you are not still happy then (she paused)

Me: Then what?

Vanessa: You can break-up

Me: I don’t know o, why one week? Is everything alright with you?

**Now I asked her if everything was alright, why? In the past I read stories of how women who had serious health problems and did not want to inform their partners, wanted their relationships to last for a particular period of time**

Vanessa: Yes, let’s just give it a try, one more time please.

Me: Ok.

She was now ‘interrogating’ me, asking things I liked and stuffs. I told her everything, including the things I did not like about her. Now it was time to start dating a girl whom you were not sure of your feelings for anymore.
