TRAUMA (Pains of Love) - Season 1 - Episode 22

BECKY’S HOUSE
(SITTING ROOM)
:
The question I asked lingered in the air for a
moment without getting any response.
“Someone should say something please,” I
pleaded but there was still no answer, so I
hissed loudly and walked out on them, heading
to my room…
:
In my room, I sat on the edge of my bed with
my elbows supporting my chin. I felt no one
cared about me anymore though I don’t know
why I felt that way but I guess something must
have triggered the feeling. I turned and picked
up my father’s photograph from my bedside
table and soon tears began to flow from my
eyes and before I myself knew it, I was crying
loudly(you know that type of cry that would
make one pity you? Yes, that was the type of
cry I had cried in my room that very day). Just
then, there was a knock on my door. I looked
up and fixed my gaze at the closed door.
“Becky, please come out, I’m sorry, don’t do
anything to harm yourself in there,” Mom’s
voice pleaded from outside but I dropped the
photo and lay on my bed and soon fell
asleep…
:
My alarm clock and God woke me up the next
day(without God, you can never hear the
ringing of the alarm clock, smiles). My alarm
was the type that also showed one date and
what day it was. Iu was a bright saturday
morning and the sun rays was already shining
into my room through the window. Saturday’s
were always very busy to me. I know some of
you must have already concluded that my
mom over pampered me but it’s a lie sha
because since I was still schooling, she did all
the house chores on weekdays while I did
mine on saturday’s and sundays but that
weekend was special coz as I walked out of
my room that morning, everywhere looked
sparkling clean and there was breakfast sef.
I was even more surprised when mom decided
to bath me herself(hmm, mothers, when you
are sick, they treat you like an egg, shout out
to the mothers all over the world ).
After I had finished bathing, mom carried me
into the room herself.

“Mr Peters, Eric’s father would be coming
today with Eric to explain how Eric became
your brother and to also tell remind us of the
agreement we had,” she said and wiped a tear
from her eyes.

I dropped container of pears baby lotion cream
which I held in my hands on the floor and
stared at mom. “Father is dead, he died long
ago. Who then is Eric and mr.Peters?” I
wanted to know

“It’s a family secret I hid from you and I think
it’s high time I let the cat out of the bag,” She
replied and stood up, then walked to the door.
“Mom!” I called as she held the door handle,
making her stop and turn to face me. “I just
hope it isn’t really something that’d make me
very sad coz if it is, I might not be able to
forgive you.”

“I know Becky but I can only hope and pray
that everything turns out right,” she concluded
and left the room, closing the door behind her,
gently as if closing the door hard would make
it cry or something.

I stared at the closed door for few more
seconds before picking up the cream
container.

As I applied the cream on my skin and even
while I dressed up, so many silly thought’s
began to flow into my mind. The thoughts took
my mind back to the hospital where the doctor
had said that “I had hit a delicate part of my
brain when I fell.” I suddenly bursted into
laughter which had Nath running into my room.
Immediately Nath entered, I quickly covered
my b----t with my wrapper since I had only
wore my three-quarter shorts.

I shot Nath an angry look, “Hey mr man, what
if I was completely naked?”
“I’m sorry,” Nath smiled and sat on my bed,
making the mattress sink as he sat. “You
know my room is close to yours, so I was
worried when you suddenly bursted into
laughter,” he added.

“Oh!” I chuckled. “Just thinking and wondering
how someone can possibly hit his/her brain
when the brain is inside the head,” I said and
sat beside him, still holding my wrapper.
Nath seemed to get my point, so he grinned
widely, “You know mom even had to go
remind her outside that it’s called amnesia
which I guess she didn’t know.”

“Some doctors sef, abeg leave my room, I
want to dress,” I stood up and knotted my
wrapper, then pulled him up and pushed him to
the door.

“Be careful so you don’t fall and hit your brain
o,” Nath laughed.

I laughed too, “Why did you come running
sef?”

“I thought you had suddenly gone crazy na, like
falling and hitting your brain again.”
“Silly you,” I chuckled again and pushed him
playfully out of the room but as he made to
walk away, something struck me and I called
him back. “Who is Eric and Mr.Peters?” I
asked, looking at him directly in the eyes but
his faced changed and he held my hands and
led me back into the room…

What agreement did Becky’s mom have with
Eric’s dad???
