Levi smirked at him before his expression turned dutiful and serious. “But what are you two doing out here?” he asked as the three of them stepped away from the now twitching bodies.

“Oh”, Kate said clingling to Loki’s side until they were completely away from the three men. “We are just taking a walk, talking about what happened”.

“What about you?”
Loki asked as they trekked back toward the Fire Temple. “Pretty far from your usual rounds, isn’t it?”

Taking a moment to cast a quick glance at his surroundings, Levi abruptly turned to face them. “I suppose you can say I’m conducting something similiar to an investigation”.

Levi was never the type to use duty protocol in such a way, so it surprised Kate when he answered like that. “Investigation?”
Loki had his brow furrowed in thought. “Into what happened here, today?”

“Yes”,
Levi said, his voice low, as if afraid that someone might over hear them. “Although it is unofficial”.

“The best kind”,
Loki couldn’t help but quip.

Levi, however, ignored him, his features creased into this concerned and apprehensive expression. “That fire. It was the Ancient Dark Fire Magic. Laura said it was. She felt it during the cleansing ritual”.

Kate’s hand flew up to her mouth in surprise while Loki’s expression only darkened.

“The Ancient Dark Fire?” Kate whispered, not wanting to believe it. The Ancient Dark Fire was……It was a terrible and forbidden form of Fire Magic. No one had used such power in years.

The powers has they had thought, have been lost for centuries. But to have someone using it now, using Dark Fire to kill those villagers. “Oh! Laura! Is she alright? Priestess are not acceptable to Dark Fire Magic than other Fire Brands”.

“She’s resting back at the Fire Temple”,
Levi replied quickly. “As I said before, it’s an unoffical investigation that only Laura and I know about it. We prefer not to get the Fire Council involved”.

Loki was silent for a moment before he asked in a low but steady voice, “You don’t trust the Fire Council?”
Levi response was immediate. “I don’t trust their conncection to Fire princess Kira”.

“I see”.
Loki seemed to approve of that greatly. “It would be best if you head back to the Fire Temple, Lady Kate”. Levi suddenly stated as he turned his full attention to Kate. “There is some idiot running loose with the Ancient Dark Fire Magic. Better safe than sorry”.

“Yes, you’re right”,
Kate immediately agreed. The thought of someone using the Ancient Dark Fire Magic was indeed frightening as whoever it was had already proven he or she knew how to use it, and use it destructively.

Fire Island didn’t feel safe anyone.

“I also want to check on Laura”, Kate added.

“Come”,
Loki said as he wrapped his arm around Kate’s shoulders again in a comforting way, leading her away. “I’ll walk you back”.

Loki then paused and turned to look directly at Levi with a firm gaze. “You better be careful, too. Incase you saw the idiot just call on my name and I will come and join you”, he said after a moment, no teasing in his voice. He was being deadly serious. “You need to stay alive to protect Laura, okay?”.

Levi blinked at Loki, slightly surprised to hear him so serious before he bowed his head just a little. “Yes, I will”.

With that, Levi disappeared into the night.
