At The Mercy of the Fire

But Kira blantantly ignored him. She was utterly enraged. “You would turn your back on our Fire God for this weakling?”

“I would never turn my back on my God”.
Laura replied, easily holding her own against Kira’s glare.

“But I don’t support you. Our Fire God would not want this!”

“You have no say in this matter”,
Kira snarled. “Guards, Kill the two traitors!”

“No!”
Kate yelled out, her heart skipping multiple beats. “Stop!”

But Laura wasn’t worried. She simply lifted her arm in a sweeping motion to her side the flames of her Spell Binding Circle increasing in size and strength. “We won’t be so easy to Kill”.

Levi continued to look confident as he called a Fire Lance to his hand, spinning it around with expert ease. “Heh, that’s right”.

Suddenly, before any of the Fire Guards could fulfil the orders they were given, the Lake of Lava erupted into life. The tremors increased with such ferocity that it was hard for anyone to stand.

Slowly, Kate turned around, watching with unblinking eyes as chunks of molten rock blasted up into the sky to rain down upon them. The Lava was acting violently; something was forming just underneath the surface. Something power and absolute.

It could only mean.

“It’s the Fire God!”
Someone yelled as the Lake of Lava literally began to boil over. “He’s coming forth!”

A look of fear appeared on Laura’s face. “Lady Kate”. She tried to make her way over to her, but Levi suddenly snared her by the arm, abruptly pulling her back, narrowly missing a bit of burning debris.

“Watch it, Laura!” Levi said as he held Laura tightly in his arms, the two finding shelter under Kotori Hakan’s fiery wings, the Fire Beast standing protectively over the two of them.

Laura rested her hand on Levi’s chest looking up at him. “Levi”

“I know”,
Levi murmured, holding her closer. “We’ll be together. I promise”

“I love you”,
Laura whispered as she nuzzled her head under Levi’s chin.

“I love you, too”,
Levi replied. The two of them were excepting the fact that they were going to die.

Smoke, thick and pitch black, filled the sky as streaks of red lightening and glowing, white hot Lava rained down upon the mortal plain. The Lava was no longer contained in a Lake. It was swirling into a tall colum towering over everyone in a massive display of sheer power.

Then, a pair of red glowing eyes appeared. They were large and awe-inspiring. And yet, as Kate gazed up into those eyes, she felt a sense of familiarity. She had seen those eyes before, she couldn’t take her own gaze off them, even as a large claw like hand formed, breaking the column of Lava.

“Well now”
an all too familiar voice suddenly mused. “This won’t do at all”.

That voice. Light and warm, yet powerful and authoritative.

Time seemed to stand still as Kate slowly turned her attention toward that voice, her eyes wide and unblinking. Her breath hitched in her throat when her gaze fell on a being standing without fear in the large dragon claw that formed from the still glowing moten Lava. The man was tall, his shoulders broad with strands of blue hair swaying in the heated winds. His blue eyes narrow as he stared down at everyone gathered, eyeing them all critically. And yet there was somewhat cheeky smile on his lips as he cocked a hip to his side, his hand resting there in a casual manner.

A-and that dragon..Ashkenaz Oboth?
“Who’s there?” an elder demanded, yet his voice was uncertain and shaky.

“T-that’s..”
Laura breathed as she stared up at the figure well.

“Loki!” Levi yelled out in disbelief.

“No way”, Kira murmured as she la!d sprawled out on the ground, having fallen there due to the powerful tremors.

Upon hearing his name said aloud, Loki’s smile turned into a half smirk as he focused his attention on the elders and the Fire Guards that had accompanied them. Then he moved quickly, jumping down from the outstretched claw of Aahkenaz Oboth and landed on the ground directly in front of Kate. He stood up tall, stretching his long frame to his full height. Just like he had done the second they had met, when Loki protected her from those bandits.

And yet, to Kate, Loki had never appeared, so tall or invinvible before.

“I suggest you get away from Kate”,
Loki said with a tone that stated that it really wasn’t a suggestion, but rather a demand. “And leave those two alone”, he added, motioning to Laura and Levi with upturn of his chin, his smile turning a little more sincere. “After all, they’re friends of mine”.
Laura was pressed tightly against Levi chest, a look of blatant shock and disbelief on her face. “Loki..” she whispered.

“My real name is Obsidian”, Loki said as he lifted a finger and brought it to his lips in a playful manner, like he was telling a rather silly secret. “The Fire God”.

Kira blanced at his words and shook her head in denial. “B-but..T-that’s impossible…”

Finally, Kate was able to find her voice, regained her breath after it had been taken away. “Loki..”.
