ify opened the door and stepped into the house…she turned and saw tony…she wanted to ignore him but he wouldn’t have it..
“where are you coming from…who is that man…why did you stay out this late…do you know how worried you got me…i almost
called the police…why did you leave with that man…who is he..?” he asked in a rush….ify
continued her walk to her room not
answering his question..he ran to her and blocked her way…she glared at him..he saw the hurt and
anger in her eyes…he felt a sharp pain in his chest…

“ifaechi…please…stop being angry with me….i’m sorry…i was tempted..I “who says i’m angry..” she asked
“don’t give me that..you say one thing but your eyes says another….i am really sorry..”
“look…you shouldn’t be apologising…you did nothing wrong…atleast according to the
contract…so why are you apologising..” ify asked
“for hurting you…you’ve been nothing but a blessing to me and i hurt you….i am so very sorry..please forgive..(going down on one knee)…i swear…i promise….it’ll never happen
again…this is the last…i’ll stay faithful to just you…just forgive me..” he pleaded…
“(sighs)….change for yourself tony…not me…okay…??”
*silence*

“its okay though….apology accepted’ “oh thank you..” he said getting up and hugging her..then pulled back
“i’m sorry for that…let me make it up to you…i know today is your birthday and i ruined it..” tony said excitedly
“oh my…i forgot…you don’t have to do that..


“nonsense…i’m taking you out
tomorrow…i’ll spoil you silly..” he said “(laughing)…you seem resolute…so my saying ‘no’ is irrelevant here…okay ooh…atleast let me go and sleep…i’m tired..”

“okay…but…uummm…you’ve not told me who that guy is..” “no one important..he’s just an ant
looking for sugar…why are you even bothered about him…are you jealous..??” she asked
“me…jealous..no…no…i..well…i was..
(clears throat)….i was just worried about you…that’s
all..” he lied
“ok sir…let me go and sleep..” she said
“come and sleep in my room na..” tony said “no way…we’re not a real couple..we’re only married on paper..” ify said as she walked
away…

“what if i want us to be a real couple..” he asked but ify was already gone…he sighed and
went to his room…
*an hr later*
tony kept turning on his bed…sleep couldn’t come…his mind was filled with ify…he longed to be with her…and this was different..it was an alien feeling…it wasn’t on a sexual
basis…what was wrong with him…i think i have fever..he thought…i’ll see the doctor…he
sat up and busied himself with his plan for ify

the next morning..tony woke up earlier than usual…he was excited about his date with
ify…wait…did he say date…oh no..he meant making up….he had everything planned out…he was going to start by making breakfast
for her…he quickly rushed to the
kitchen…he looked at the menu for that morning…

“bread…egg and tea….easy..” he said and started preping…mr clifford walked into the
kitchen..he wanted to get water and was shocked to see tony in the kitchen
“father lord…tony…in the kitchen…mary mother of God..who do you want to poison this time..” he asked
“(laughing)…oh c’mon dad…i’m making breakfast for my wife…i mean..for ify..”

at this his father kept quiet…he only smiled to himself…he had noticed some changes in him
since ify came…he hoped he would
change totally and possibly stick to ify..did i say hoped…i meant he prayed.. *knock knock*
a knock on her door woke her up…she sluggishly went to open it and was surprised to see tony with a tray of food
“breakfast in bed” tony yelled as he stepped into the room
“tony…are you okay..??” she asked surprised…

“i am…i told you i was going to make it up to you for ruining your birthday yesterday and i meant it…now go in there and brush your teeth while i set up..” he said pushing her towards the bathroom…few mins later
she came out…

“now get back on the bed..” he said
“as his majesty wishes” she said slightly bowing then jumped on the bed…

“haha…very funny” tony said…he began to feed her..she couldn’t help but blush…after he was done…ify tried to collect the plate so she’d wash it but tony hit her hands playfully.. “you’ll do no work today…the next
thing..you should do now is prepare for our date..”

“date..??” ify asked
“date…did i say date..(scratching his head
nervously)…i meant outing…” he said and left…ify smiled

ferdnardo paced about his room…he could not sleep last night…the conversation he had
with the strange lady stuck to his head…he had cancelled the meeting after she left….he
struggled within himself…but if he listens to the lady won’t it make him appear weak…it
would seem like he gave up and it would give clifford more reason to taunt him..no…no..he can’t give up….clifford deserves to be
punished…but you are not a bad man…he heard cynthia’s voice tell him in his head…
