Nadal pulls out of Spain’s Davis Cup World Group play-off against India

World number four tennis player, Rafael Nadal, has pulled out of the Davis Cup promotion clash against India.
The clash against India this weekend is Spain’s hopes of returning to the Davis Cup World Group and was dealt a blow as Nadal pulled out due to injury.

Spain, who won the tournament in 2008, 2009 and 2011, and were runners-up in 2012 were relegated to the second tier of the competition in 2014 for the first time since 1996 that they hadn’t been in the World Group.

Spain beat Romania to make it into the World Group play-offs, and face a tough match against India in New Delhi to decide if they will regain their seat at tennis’s top table.

Nadal, suffers a left wrist injury that saw him missed several months of the season and even pulling out of the French Open and Wimbledon.

However, he will be replaced in Spain’s singles rubbers by Feliciano Lopez, with David Ferrer the other singles player and Lopez teaming up with Marc Lopez in the doubles.
