The house leader Ado Doguwa (Kano), moved motion for the adjournment and it was seconded by Peter Akpatason (APC, Edo).

Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila who announced the adjournment said the decision became necessary in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic ravaging countries around the world.

Gbajabiamila added that it “is not a holiday but a decision necessary to observe social distancing and isolation guidelines that have proven to be effective in preventing secondary transmission of the COVID-19 disease.”

The announcement came after the Senate took same decision on Tuesday.
