Mobile payments, one of the major tools to fight COVID-19 outbreak in Nigeria

The novel coronavirus has spread to the whole globe in a matter of several months only. The COVID-19 outbreak happened on every continent and in every single country in the whole world. While CVOID-19 was first discovered in Wuhan, China, it has already been discovered in Africa as well.

Only several days ago, the continent had dozens of cases, but the number has significantly increased within a week and has reached more than a thousand already. The outbreak happened at a rapid speed and the governments of the African countries are trying to address the problem and find the most efficient solution for it.

One of the leading countries in Africa, which has the biggest and the most important economy in the region is Nigeria. The population of Nigeria is more than 200 million. The number of cases in Nigeria is almost 300, while the number of deaths is still under 10. Thus, the country is trying to implement the measures which will be an efficient prevention of further outbreak and infections.

One of the major reasons why the COVID-19 spread so rapidly, is the money and the cash that people use in daily lives. Cash is well known for being one of the dirtiest papers available. Thus it is very simple to transmit the virus via money. Nigeria and many other African countries made the decision to switch to the mobile money payment rather than stick to cash.

Switching to mobile money payment will be safer for people as they will no longer need to touch money and thus increase the number of potential virus infections. Mobile money is one of the most comfortable methods of payment and the governments in collaboration with startups and tech companies have already adopted mobile payments.

The mobile money payments have already been widely accepted in certain industries. Major industries like the gambling industry have adapted the mobile money payment a long time ago. It is one of the most accepted and saved methods of payment for casino games online. The online gambling industry managed to catch up with the latest tendencies and is working on the development of tech sectors even more.

Mobile money payment VS COVID-19

According to the governments of some countries, the mobile payment will be a great way to prevent touching cash and virus transmission. Some of the major tech startups in the country are already actively working for the massive implementation of mobile money. This is essential for overcoming the economic crisis during the pandemic.
