Top 5 South African Artiste's With International Music Deals (See List)
South African musicians have continued to push their music beyond continental borders. Even though the year has been crazy due to everything going on the world especially the outbreak of the novel COVID-19, this has not stopped SA rappers from bagging deals with reputable international record labels.
Here are the top 5 SA rappers who have bagged deals with international labels.
1. Nasty C
Back in March, Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo popularly known as Nasty C announced his new deal with Def Jam Recordings, an American record label. He recently released his first major project titled “Zulu Man With Some Power” under the label. The recently released album has been topping the charts since its release and this is majorly due to the strategies adopted by the label in marketing Nasty C and his projects.
2. Elaine
SA R&B singer and songwriter, Ndivhuwo Elaine Mukheli, professionally known as Elaine has risen to become the hottest R&B singer in the country. The songstress became an international sensation following the release of her debut EP titled “Elements.” Last month, Elaine bagged a deal with international record label, Columbia Records which also houses music icons such as Beyonce, John Legend, Adele among others.
3. Saudi
South African rapper Saudi who was born as Anele Mbisha recently bagged a deal with an American music and entertainment company named The Orchard. Prior to this time, he was signed to controversial SA label, Ambitiouz Entertainment.
4. Sho Madjozi
Few months ago, female SA singer, Sho Madjozi announced her newly bagged deal with international record label, Epic Records. Prior to this time, she was signed to Sony Music entertainment. She will soon be releasing her first project under Epic Records.
5. Moonchild Sanelly
Back in June, Moonchild Sanelly took to her social media platforms to announce her newly concluded deal with English label, Transgressive Records. This was followed by the release of her first project under the label titled “Bashiri.”
