Man United Punish Mason Greenwood After Bringing Girls To England’s Team Hotel

Mason Greenwood has been told to train on his own, as he returned to Manchester United after being sent home from England duty.

The 18-year-old, along with Manchester City star Phil Foden, were sent back to their clubs after a breach of Covid-19 protocols in Iceland.

Greenwood and Foden made their debuts in Reykjavik on Saturday but during the pair’s time in Iceland they invited two girls to their hotel room, when they were supposed to be adhering to strict quarantine rules.

England boss Gareth Southgate reprimanded the two debutants, citing their behaviour as “unacceptable”.

Southgate also refused to rule out the chance that both could miss future England squads, claiming trust will need to be rebuilt.

The striker returned to United’s Carrington complex on Thursday, but will be forced to train in isolation, while he is still deemed a coronavirus risk.

According to the Sun, Greenwood has been informed he can only arrive at the training ground once boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the rest of the first-team squad have gone home.

Greenwood will miss this weekend’s friendly with Aston Villa and is a risk for their Premier League opener against Crystal Palace later this month. His inclusion for that fixture at Old Trafford will depend on the results of a Covid-19 test taken on Wednesday.
