Clarence Peters Biography

If You don’t know Clarence Peters then I can say maybe you are not watching a video at all. Clarence Abiodun Peters who is popularly well known as Clarence Peters is the founder and CEO of Capital Dream Pictures, also the founder and CEO of Capital Hill Records, a record label home to Chidinma, Tha Suspect and Illbliss.

He was ranked 2nd on Channel O’s list of the Top 10 Most Visionary Music Video Directors In 199.

Early Life & Education

Clarence Peters was born on the 20th of December 1983 in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria into a prominent family. He is the son of Sir Shina Peters, a Nigerian musician, and Clarion Chukwurah, a Nollywood actress.

He completed his primary school education from BI primary school and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate, he completed his secondary school education at Government College Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria and obtained his West African Senior School Certificate.

He Proceeded to City University in Cape Town in Southern Africa to have a degree in film making, specializing in Cinematography though Clarence Peters was a footballer he focused on Cinematography 

he once worked at Alpha Visions for three years

In an interview posted on the website of Daily Times of Nigeria, his mother, Clarion Chukwurah opened up about wanting to abort him while he was in her womb but changed her mind because of her belief that Clarence Peters was the reincarnation of her father who she lost when she was 11 years old.

Career

After graduation from school, Clarence Peters teamed up with a group of filmmakers to start Alliance Film Company, which is now known as the Allied Film Company. He worked with Alliance Film Company for one year before moving to establish his own movie production company.

While in secondary school, Clarence Peters met Tha Suspect, a music record producer and a recording artist. The two started a group after becoming acquainted with each other. Capital Hill Records was formed after Clarence Peters returned to Nigeria from South Africa. Clarence Peters and Tha Suspect decided to look for a female artist who could rap and sing. At a later date, Clarence Peters signed Kel to his record label after being introduced to her by Terry tha Rapman.

He is the founder and CEO of Capital Dream Pictures, a production company that specializes in the realms of the performing arts, new media art, film, television, radio and video.

He is also the founder and CEO of Capital Hill Records, a record label that brought top artists like Chidinma Ekile to prominence. Clarence Peters was ranked 2nd on Channel O’s Top 10 Most Visionary Music Video Directors list. In 1998, Clarence Peters was involved in a Mobil-sponsored music video for a documentary on AIDS.

Clarence Peters directed the 40 episodes of the television series “Everyday People”. Clarence Peters has directed music videos for recording artists across an array of genres and generations, including top artists like Wizkid, Davido, Flavour, Olamide, Phyno, Chidinma, Tiwa Savage and a host of other top Nigerian celebrities.

Clarence Peters is one of the most dynamic audio-visual content makers to have emerged from today’s Nigerian film scene. Clarence has shot hundreds of music videos for Nigeria’s leading acts, with content that routinely gets millions of hits on YouTube. The son of legendary Afro-Juju musician Sir Shina Peters and veteran Nollywood actress Clarion Chukwura, he has a career that spans more than two decades.

Clarence Peters in the cause of his career has won several awards which include Best Music Video Director of the Year at the City People Entertainment Awards, Best Music Video of the Year at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards, Best Video Director at the African Muzik Magazine Awards, amongst others.

Clarence Peters won the Best Director and Best Cinematography in the 2009 Nigeria Music Video Awards.

  • In 2012, Clarence Peters won the Best Cinematographer in the Nigeria Music Video Awards.

  • In 2013, he won the Best Music Video Director and both Best Director and Best Cinematography in the Headies 2013 awards and Nigeria Music Video Awards respectively.

  • In 2014, Clarence Peters won the Best Video and Transform Today by Absolute in the African Muzik Magazine Awards and MTV Africa Music Awards 2014 respectively.
