The Mandalorian Season 2 Will Release New Episodes Weekly On Disney+ Confirmed

The Mandalorian season 2's new episodes will be released weekly. Star Wars' first live-action series is almost back for more Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Baby Yoda following a successful debut year. The show's long-awaited trailer dropped last week, giving fans an idea with what to expect from its next eight outings before it premieres at the end of October.

Picking up immediately after The Mandalorian season 1 ended, the new season is bigger almost every way. After receiving his new mission from the Armorer (Emily Swall0w) about reuniting the Force-sensitive child to its people, the unlikely pair will find themselves traveling to both familiar and new places for their endeavor. Along the way, they're tipped to meet some key Star Wars figures like Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison), Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff), and Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson). For those already on the edge of their seats waiting to see how things shake out for Din and Baby Yoda, it's worth noting that The Mandalorian season 2 will have a staggered weekly release.

As stated in the official Star Wars website, the show will have the same rollout schedule as The Mandalorian season 1, meaning new episodes will drop every Friday on Disney+. A couple of days later, "they can visit MandoMondays.com each Monday to see what new toys, collectibles, apparel, books, comics, digital content, and more will be unveiled." The press statement, however, does not confirm what time episodes will be available to stream.

Since it appears as if Disney and Lucasfilm are sticking to their initial release schedule for the Jon Favreau-created series, it's safe to assume that new outings will drop on the platform around midnight PT (3 AM ET). Briefly, there was a commotion over when each new The Mandalorian season 1 episode would be live because of the varying availability times in season 1's first couple of episodes, but they eventually got into a regular schedule. Admittedly, the time slot is quite odd considering it's a little bit too later for people on the East Coast, and arguably, even for some in the West. That said, considering how popular The Mandalorian became last year, there's no real reason why they would drastically change their timetable.

In this day and age of content bingeing, thanks to Netflix's release format, some may not appreciate that they have to wait weekly for new The Mandalorian episodes, especially if it will maintain its surprisingly short runtime. However, by utilizing this type of release schedule, Disney and Lucasfilm can keep the show at the forefront of public conversation much longer, which is obviously what they want. It also gives those who cannot watch it as it's released enough time to catch up before the next one. In any case, if the show delivers another great year, fans would ultimately end up watching it regardless of when or how episodes are released.
