JAMB now allows HB pencils in CBT exams

JAMB has disclosed that candidates for the 2024 UTME mock scheduled to hold today March 8th, 2024 would be allowed to enter the examination hall with an ordinary HB pencil for numerical analysis if they want to.

This was disclsoed by the JAMB spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin, in a statement on Wednesday. According to him, this disclosure became necessary following enquiries from candidates regarding whether they would be allowed to come with HB pencils to the exam hall.

He stated that before now, the Board had hitherto prohibited the use of pencils and other banned materials in view of the nefarious ends that these materials are put but has, however, okayed the use of ordinary HB pencil during the upcoming Mock-UTME and the main exam scheduled to commence on Friday, 19th April 2024.

We therefore advise candidates scheduled for the mock who would need the use of writing materials for calculations to go to the exam hall with their HB pencils and an extra copy of their mock slip print out only.

Please note that other items like watches, pens or biros, mobile phones or similar electronic devices, spy reading glasses, calculators, hard disks or similar storage devices, books or any reading material, cameras, recorders and microphones remaain banned. You shouldn't be seen with any of this in the exam hall.
