Mobb Deep rapper Havoc did not initially believe the reports of his longtime collaborator and close friend Prodigy's death on Tuesday at age 42, according to TMZ.

Prodigy had a long history of health troubles stemming from his battle with sickle cell anemia.

At first, Havoc chalked the news up as a"weird rumor" when he got the call that his close friend had died, because he'd been in and out of hospitals throughout his life with his sickle cell anemia.

In an interview with TMZ, Havoc tells the story of how he reached out to [fsearch]Mobb Deep[/msearch]'s road manager to ease his mind, only to have the tragic truth confirmed.
