Fela - Trouble Sleep, Yanga Wake Am

It’s already 2 decades since the legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti passed on.


The late Fela was a Nigerian multi-instrumentalist, musician, composer, pioneer of the Afrobeat music genre, human rights activist, and political maverick. He has been called “superstar, singer, musician, Panafricanist, polygamist, mystic, legend.”


During the height of his popularity, he was often hailed as one of Africa’s most “challenging and charismatic music performers.”

On today’s Throwback, we remember Fela with his 1972 released record titled “Trouble Sleep, Yanga Wake Am” which is off the Roforofo Fight album. It was originally released on the Nigerian EMI label, Jofabro.
