Carey co-produced and co-wrote the song with Tricky Stewart, with co-writing assistance from Cri$tyle and The Dream.

The track was released as the lead single from the album on February 12, 2008, receiving generally positive reviews from contemporary music critics.

It peaked at Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (the singer’s eighteenth) and also on the UK R&B charts. Canadian and New Zealander charts saw the song occupying Number 2 and 3 positions respectively, and it reached the top ten in 10 other countries as well.

Furthermore, the single has been certified platinum in the US and Gold in the UK.
