Eedris Abdulkareem - Jaga Jaga

Jaga Jaga is a politically-conscious afro hip hop/rap song recorded by Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem, taken from his 2004 third studio album of the same name.

“Jaga Jaga” is a term in Nigerian native Yoruba language which means “shambles”.

The song was written by Abdulkareem and addressed corruption and suffering in Nigeria. It made huge waves in the country after its release as a result of the economic down turn plaguing the nation at the time.

It was however banned from radio by then President Olusegun Obasanjo, though it continued to enjoy spins in parties, nightclubs and everywhere else that required music.

Over the years, there have been scores of tracks that address the incessant corruption in the Nigerian government, but this right here is top notch. And yes, the song is still very much relevant to this day!

Reminisce on this.
