The next day, I woke up with a terrible headache, my eyes looked dull and I felt weak!

I couldn’t do anything, I just didn’t want do anything, I didn’t want to go to work, I wanted nobody to come near me!

It took a while before I got up and prepared breakfast, I wanted to cook but I couldn’t, Thinking about what happened to me recently left me disarrayed, so I eat cornflakes instead, and went back to bed….

How could Chris do that to me? Why? Wasn’t my body enough? Was Dolores better than me? Why is everything I do or get I always get beaten? Why? I’m tired of this, I’m just so tired…….

As I slumped back to my bed, I heard a knock on my door, Who could it be? I stood up painfully and went and opened the door.

Stephanie ➡ Ellie baby, wetin happen to you? You’re a mess!

Elizabeth ➡ You know what happened to me…… That cheating bastard……..

Stephanie ➡ No, no, no come in and sit down, I have something to tell you.

She dragged me in and made me sit on the couch, she held my hands looking at me, Pitifully.

Stephanie ➡ Ellie, I went to see Chris, it wasn’t what you thought it was, he didn’t cheat on you, it was a misunderstanding.

Elizabeth ➡ What are you talking about? I saw them with my two eyes.

Stephanie ➡ Look, it was an accident, he couldn’t help himself so Dolores help him and that’s where you came in.

Elizabeth ➡ Did you really believe that liar? That Dolores is a b---h!

Stephanie ➡ Look, you don’t get it, That Dolores is a lesbian!

Elizabeth ➡ So f-----g what? Lesbians also sleep with men, this doesn’t prove a thing, I know what I saw.

Elizabeth ➡ No but she was on her knees in his front.

Stephanie ➡ Look, I know you’re angry but Chris is innocent, You’re just letting your anger blind you.

Stephanie ➡ Elizabeth what’s with you? Are you sending me out?

Elizabeth ➡ YES!!! GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!!! OUT!!!

Stephanie ➡ Ellie…….. I’m just trying to…….

Elizabeth ➡ OUT!!!

Stephanie stood up and went out, I banged the door behind her, I was just so angry and pissed off, I soon regretted why I did that, it wasn’t her fault.

My head was paining me terribly, I felt a lump in my throat, I quickly ran to the toilet and vomited, I soon started crying again! I was really messed up, my life was in a mess, I threw my best friend out, I dumped my boyfriend and I got divorced and my hard work was all for nothing, I stayed in the toilet, crying for minutes, I turned on the shower and the water fell on me as I cried.

I spent a week at home doing nothing, I didn’t go to shop and I didn’t care, all I did was eat, sleep, bath, shit and watch TV. I was completely broken, it was as if my life was cursed, my house was a mess, my clothes were everywhere and the house was littered with stuff.

I checked my phone and saw missed calls and texts, most of the calls was from my workers, at the shops, some were from Chris and some were from my mom, I even saw a text of hers which said she was coming to see me, As i was looking at the texts, I heard a knock on the door, wondering who it was, I wore my fluffy slippers and went to check who it was, it was my staff from the store, They looked sad as if something had happened, I slightly opened the door and asked why they were here!

Elizabeth ➡ What is it, Bisi?

.

Bisi ➡ Madam, we have a problem, something terrible has happened!

Elizabeth ➡ What happened?

.

Bisi ➡ Madam,…………….. (crying)

.

Elizabeth ➡ Come on talk!!! What is it?

.

Bisi ➡ Madam, there was a fire out break at the shop………….. Everything was lost in the fire!

.

I couldn’t believe it? My shop, my sweat and hard work was burnt to ashes, She explained that the fire was caused by the transformer, someone left the one of the sewing machines on and when NEPA bought their light, the current was too strong caused the sockets and the sew machine to blow and that was how the fire started!

After she told me that, I went back inside and locked the door, I sat down crying as hard as I could! Everything I had and worked for was lost, gone, taken away from me! I kicked and threw away my stuff around the house, In my rampage, I destroyed my plasma screen, and some other valuable stuff, I got tired and cried till I could no longer do it.

What purpose was there for me? My life is meaningless , I had nothing to live for, my purpose is life is taken away from me, so I made up my mind to kill my self.

I went to the kitchen and took my sharpest knife, so I could end my life, I stood in the middle of my parlor holding the knife to my chest, My hands were shaky and I was sweating, I wondered how death would feel? Was it going to be painful? I didn’t care just as long my suffering would end its fine for me.

I took a deep breath and raised my hands high in the air and bought it down, before I knew what I was happening, everywhere became dark and still, I felt myself fall on the floor, I couldn’t move, my body was numb and cold, all I could hear was my name!

*ELIZABETH!!!!

(Chris P. O. V)

Its been a week since I found that money! I calculated it and found out it was 9million in total, I didn’t touch the money, I waited and see who would come asking for it! But no one came, that’s when I realized This money was sent to me by God! This money was enough for me to start a new life, I formed a list of what I intended to do with the money;

Firstly, I wanted to by a house for myself so I wouldn’t pay rent anymore.

Secondly, I was going to expand my business

Third, I would give Dolores a million for saving my ass.

Fourth, I would send some money for my mom to buy an acre of land big enough to farm and rear animals.

Fifth, I would send some money to Ifeoma, and to my uncle,

Finally, I would use the remaining money to marry Elizabeth if she forgives me.

Everything was in place, I stared working on my list , I went and checked houses which was enough for me to start and raise a family, and later found one, it was an old rusty house but it was perfect and it wasn’t that expensive, it had everything a house could ever need, security, water and space and solid foundation, it was a storey building and the price was 3.5 million. It wasn’t fashionable but I could fix it as time goes on.

I soon bought it and started moving my stuff into it, and as for my uncle, he refused to take the money, He said I should use to to make my life useful, I did everything I could for him to accept the money but he still refused!

So I went to the bank and deposited the remaining money and send some to my mother, and told her to buy a plot of land and use the remaining money to buy some animals, she was excited about it and asked how I got the money, the answer I gave her was “it was God”.

Lately, I was wondering about Elizabeth, I had called her through out the week but she wasn’t answering! I really missed her, I couldn’t go to her shop and apologize cause she would humiliate me so I decide to go to her house after I was done settling my issues.

I later went home in the evening, The day was exhausting and tired, I thanked God for sending me this blessing, my life was getting better and better , How could have believed a village hustler like me would make it? Even I was marveling at what I went through and I was grateful for it.

As I stretched myself on the couch, Dolores came into my house, She looked jovial and happy, I wonders what was making her happy!

Chris ➡ Dolores! Wetin dey jolly you?

Dolores ➡ Hmm, nothing just feeling good that’s all.

Chris ➡ Is that all?

.

Dolores ➡ Yes! Or do you want me to look angry?

Chris ➡ No,..

Dolores ➡ So has Elizabeth answers your calls?

Chris ➡ No, not yet…

Dolores ➡ Don’t worry, she’ll forgive you, don’t worry just give her time.

Chris ➡ So how’s ur day? How’s work?

Dolores ➡ Work is fine, but I’m tired of it, my employer is a dog, always trying to sweet talk me into having an affair with him.

Chris ➡ Sorry, just manage, God will give you a better better one!

Dolores ➡ I hope so, because I just got fired!

Chris ➡ What? How?

Dolores ➡ Well, my boss threatened to fire me if I didn’t accept his demand, so I punched him in the face, it didn’t take long for him to say the words.

Chris ➡ I’m sorry……..

Dolores ➡ No its okay, I’m glad I was done with the job.

Chris ➡ so what now?

Dolores ➡ I don’t know! I guess I’m going to look for another one.

Chris ➡ Excuse me!

I went into my room and brought out the money I reserved for Dolores, As I came out of my room, I dropped the bag in front of her. She stared at me wondering what was going on!

Dolores ➡ What’s this?

Chris ➡ Open the bag!

.

She slowly opened the bag to see what was inside inside, as soon as she saw what was inside, she jumped back staring at me in shock, I laughed hard as I saw how her face looked.

Dolores ➡ Chris, what’s this?

.

Chris ➡ Babe, its money!

.

Dolores ➡ How much?

.

Chris ➡ A million naira!

.

Dolores ➡ Who’s money is it? Please don’t tell me you’re into kidnapping or theft.

Chris ➡ No, God forbid no! This money is yours, take it, its my gift to you.

Dolores ➡ Mine???

Chris ➡ Yes, besides since you’re unemployed, you could start a business with it.

Dolores ➡ Its very generous of you but I can’t take it.

I told her everything, about how I got the money and how I did what I did with it, Dolores still had a shocked look in her eyes, i doubt if she was convince about what I said.

Just then she did something I never expected, She gave me a warm kiss ?, this couldn’t be happening, Dolores was kissing me on her own will, Unbelievable!

Chris ➡ What was that for? Why did you kiss me?

Dolores ➡ This is my gift to you Also, its a one time offer so don’t expect anything more from me, this is the best I could do, Thank you.

Chris ➡ You’re welcome, so you believe my story?

Dolores ➡ Hell no! Your story is too far fetched, it can’t be possibly believed, impossible! But knowing you I know you’re not crooked. You must have gotten the money through some other means.

Chris ➡ Hmmmm, okay o, enjoy your money and don’t spend them on clothes!

As Dolores was about to leave, I got a call from Stephanie, I quickly answered to see what’s up.

Chris ➡ Evening Stephanie,how are you?

Stephanie ➡ Hi Chris, I’m fine… Look I have something to tell you!

Chris ➡ Is something wrong? You sound awful.

Stephanie ➡ Chris, its Elizabeth,….. (crying) She’s…. She’s……

Chris ➡ She’s what????

Stephanie ➡ She’s……….???????
