I couldn’t max rejected me? How could he? Besides it was my fault, he asked if I loved him, I did but I couldn’t say anything but to be frank, I loved him more because he gave me the best f--k of my life and what future could I possibly have with him while I’m trying to hide from Bolaji?

Maybe its for the best, besides he needs someone like Josephine and to make things worst, I caused trouble for them, I hope they make up!

(As soon as Emma starts parking her stuffs, a knock bangs through her door, She becomes still and alert, she quickly goes to the kitchen and picks up her hammer, and crepts quietly to the door, she takes a deep breath before opening the door)

Dave ➡ Max has been missing since yesterday! His girlfriend Josephine called us and told us about it, we suspect it might be your husband!

They quickly left the room and drove off in their car, I was too tense to think properly! Besides how did Bolaji know about our affair? Please God save him, I’m willing to sacrifice anything to save that poor soul from a gruesome death, I quickly went to my room to change into some clothes, while I saw doing that, I felt a lump in my throat, I ran to the toilet and vomited.

I woke up feeling, terrible pains all over my head, I was tied to a chair, the place was filled with the stench of fishes and oil ? boats, This place was near the dorks where Cargo ships are kept, I tried breaking free but the rope was too tight, I tried again but this time, I felt a heavy punch on the side of my face, before I could recover from the pain, another one followed to the other side of my face, making me feel dizzy that I vomited ? blood!

I couldn’t move after that, I was still and motionless, I still couldn’t recall what brought me here in the face place, just then I heard a laugh and looked up, trying to see who it was.

I was alarmed when I saw Bolaji; Emma’s husband, he had this evil smile on his face as he came close to me, he wasn’t alone, there was a white lady and a tall looking fellow who wore shady glass and a long thick coat.

Who were this people? And what was going on? I felt a spark inside my head as I recalled everything! So he had finally discovered the affair I had with his wife? And now he’s going to blame me for his wife’s betrayal and is going to make me pay, as he came right in front of me, he spit on me, slapping me hard across the face.

He snapped his fingers and his boys or goons untied me and hanged both my hands with chains on the wall, He then ordered them to rough me up, Punches landed everywhere on my body, the pain jolted my body as if rocks were falling on my body.

Bolaji enjoyed himself as his goons beat the life out of me, After amusing his savagery, he told them to stop, I tried to fall but the chains held my hand to prevent from doing so.

Bolaji ➡ Olori buruku! Radaradani! Ole! So you think you could f--k my wife and chop my money without any consequences?

Thank goodness that lady intervened if not I would be a goner, just then a horn came from boat outside the warehouse, the so called package had arrived soon some men came in with wooden crates , I was surprised to see custom officers among them, the crates were opened and there was some white nylon packages in it, the lady took one of packages and opened it, she pinched a small quantity and inhaled it, Just then I knew what it was, Cocaine!

So cocaine was smuggled through this place? And Bolaji was the supplier,so this was his source of income, too bad I wasn’t going to leave here alive to expose the bastard!

After the packages were confirmed, The custom officers demanded for their pay, but what followed next totally terrified me, Bolaji signed his boys to get rid of them, before they could react, the goons started shooting them, some of the custom officers tried to escape but they were gunned down.

Bolaji signaled his men to wreck me completely, they brought out some Iron tools to dismantle me with it, one of them gave Bolaji a big garden scissors ✂️, he smiled waving it over my face as he came close to me.

His men laughed as he tried to remove my trousers, I tried kicking them off but they pounded my legs with the iron tools, my legs went numb and still, Before they could try to unclad me, Police men bursted into the place, making everyone panic.

Bolaji’s face was filled with surprise and fear, that he threw away the scissors and took his heels with an amazing speed and agility, some of his men followed him while the others stayed and exchanged gun shots with the police but they were all gunned down,

The detectives Dave and Oke came to my aid and took me up in their arms and straight away from the massacre, Bolaji and his men were cornered and trapped, they tried to fight back but they were beaten down mercilessly by the police, Even the lady and her companion were arrested but they were not touched! Everything was over in an instant.

I later woke up in an hospital bed, my legs were bandaged and casted! My head too was also bandaged! Beside my bed was Josephine, her eyes were filled wit tears, close to her was my mom, she too looked like she had cried alot, they both hugged me warmly feeling happy about my recovery and survival.

As we were entrapped in our hug, Dave came in, smiling at me!

Dave ➡ Max, so you’re awake? How are you feeling?

Max ➡. I’m still hanging on!

Dave ➡ That’s great, I’m glad you made it.

Max ➡ So what happened?

Dave told me everything, Bolaji was sentenced to life imprisonment, he was found guilty of many charges, Murder, attempted murder, smuggling of illegal goods and fraud! The judge didn’t waste time in sentencing Bolaji to his fate, everything he owned was sold and given to Sammy’s relative and some were given to charity but this is Nigeria the money will go to the pockets of someone else.

As for the lady and her companion, they were from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (F. B. I), they were also working on a case on Bolaji, they were soon released after that, they confiscated the cocaine and went back to their country!

I couldn’t believe everything unfolded so fast, and I felt happy the old bastard was going to rot in prison, that place is where animal like him deserve to stay.

After that Dave left the room, my mom also left me and Josephine alone for a while.

Hi, max if you’re reading this I want to say I’m sorry for what happened to you, I wanted to tell you this in person but I couldn’t face you after what you went through because of me, and I’m also leaving this country, I want you to forgive me for putting your life in peril, I truly am sorry, I really am.

I was speechless after I read the letter, I too wasn’t happy the way things turned out, I was never going to see her again, never! I dumped the letter into the Dustbin, I wasn’t angry at her anyways, I just hope she finds someone that will love and care for her.

My mom came in afterwards with some food and ? drinks, I wasn’t really hungry but I could use the drinks.

One year later….

Josephine and I later got married a few weeks after I was out of the hospital, The wedding was a crowdy one, so we wanted it to be small and simple, My mom was happy about the whole thing and so were we.

Life with Josephine was great, she was a wonderful wife,she did all she could to please me and I did my best to make her happy! I was really a lucky man, sometimes I would wonder about Emma hoping how she was and what she was up to! I never heard from her since she left this country.

A few months later, Josephine gave birth to a baby boy, he looked so much like his mother, Mom was wild with happiness that she took care of the naming ceremony, as for his name I gave him Sammy’s name, to remember him always, Josephine too like the idea of naming our child after Sammy!

So one Sunday evening, I was spending a quiet time with Josephine and sammy, when I saw an alert of 5,million dollars, I was speechless, who could have sent this money? As I was confused on what to do next, a message entered my phone, asking me to check my WhatsApp which I did, as soon as I entered, I saw a message from an unknown number, as I clicked the number, what I saw next stunned me.

It was Emma in a bikini and a child in her arms,she sent me a dozen pictures of her and the child, underneath the pictures, I saw a message.

“Hi Max, how are you? I heard about your wedding , congratulations, I’m happy for you.

As you’ve probably seen now that I’ve sent 5million to your account, don’t be surprised cause I was once your boss, I sent you that money because you’ve given me the greatest treasure and title I’ve always dreamed of! Which is a child and a mother; Yes the boy on the picture is your son, his name is Maxwell junior, I named him after his father!

I’ve really missed you and i would love for us to meet so your son can see you, I still love you and I thank you for fulfilling my womanly dreams.

I couldn’t hold the tears in my eyes so I went out so that Josephine wouldn’t see me shedding tears! I wasn’t crying because I wasn’t with her or didn’t get the chance to meet my son but because I was happy for her, she had finally gotten what she had always wanted. I looked up in the sky, wondering about our fortunes, though Emma and I walked different paths but we finally got something wonderful in the end, as they say in chess, Its Checkmate.
