THE NEXT DAY**

ST. LUKE HOSPITAL**

“Mum! I know its you. I know you were the one that caused Jayden’s accident. Why!!” John screamed.

They were standing at the lonely staircase.

Agatha looked around before giving his son an agitating look.

“Will you shut up!! Shut your little mouth” She warned.

“Mum… You intentionally sent Jayden an arrand yesterday after school. When I said I wanted to tag along, you cleared rebuffed and warned me. I’m thinking you are the mastermind behind the incident that happened to him. Now, He’s unconscious and also gonna un-dergo surgery” John was crying now.

“Darn it! I told you to shut up,will you??!”

“I won’t! I won’t shut up! Why would you make an order for a car to hit him badly!! He’s bleeding”

“I did it for you son!” She cried.

“What?”

“I wanted to make you happy. To do that I had to eliminate Jayden. He’s a burden to me…and you”

“And who said I wasn’t happy?? Who said he was a burden!! I like Jayden now! He’s my brother!”

“I said shut up!” She slapped him.

“What has come over you. I see Jayden has finally casted a spell on you like he did to your father. Actually, I did send someone to hit him with his truck. But he didn’t hit him. He got saved by some stupid girl who’s also now lying down in the same ward as his”

“I wonder why she had to intervene. Now, she has caused herself unnecessary problems. Anyways, another car moved at high speed, hurled to them and that was how the accident occurred. Its not my fault this time but the fault of the reckless driver. The person I sent failed terribly cause of that wretched little soul. That girl is something else”

“Its still your fault, Mum. If you just stayed as you promised Dad and Jayden, maybe…he wouldn’t have been hurt. Maybe the girl will be safe. She’s the one who even got hurt the most. She practically saved Jayden and shielded him. What if she dies?? What if the Jayden…dies? No, I don’t even wanna imagine it” John sobbed, shivering.

Agatha scoffed.

“That boy is a devil, I tell you! He’s a devil. Let’s go back to the ward and pretend to be remorseful. I will make sure that boy doesn’t leave this hospital alive”

The door behind them suddenly opened and Ricardo walked in, with 2 other cops.

He had a serious and furious look on his face.

“Honey ..” She whispered.

“You’re the devil!” He snapped.

“Mum. I’m sorry. I’d no choice” John whispered, looking down.

Agatha turned to him.

“Wait…What? Don’t tell me you.. How dare you? Why…why would you try to depose your own mother! Why??” She grabbed him little arm. and pierced his delicate skin with her long fingers.

“Leave me!” He cried and ran to his father, holding his leg.

“No! John…John is coming with me. Yes! I caused this all! Its my doing! You can divorce me for all I care. I can’t live with that devil! I can’t! And my John can’t live with him either. He sure can’t live with a father who shares his heart because of his nephew he calls his son. So foolish!”

“Mind what you utter” He warned.

“I want to own the custody for my son! You even promised me. You promised to hand John to me when I try to mess up again. I’ve messed up so give John up!!”

“No…Dad!! I don’t wanna follow her. Please” He cried.

“You can arrest me and even grant me bail for all I care. But what I know is that, I won’t leave John for you. I’ll take this to court and win custody of him and I promise to be a better parent that you were. Then, we will move out of Germany and probably stay in a better country that will favor us”

“Daddddd” John cried.

Ricardo clenched his fist as he glared at Agatha.

★ PRESNT DAY ★

“So, That was it happened?” Whitney asked.

“John was later given to Agtha. She tried changing Jonn surname but he was adamant. After everything and all nagging, he used the initials. John J” Jayden explained.

Whitney sighed and pulled his head close to her che-st. She surrounded her arms around his shoulders.

“You’d such a rou-ghchildhood, baddie” She said.

“I thought i would die” He muttered, sadly.

“Thanks to that girl though. The truck could have done it worst. That’s how you got the scar?” She asked.

He nodded.

Whitney took his face to hers.
“So, what later happened to this girl? Who’s she?” She asked.

Jayden blinked his eyes down. And looked at her.

“She’s Jane… My very first love” He whispered.

“Hmm…I guess it wasn’t Natalie after all. Your first love. Your father kinda talked about it the other day”

“Oh yes”

“Tell me about Jane and you then. But don’t make me jealous”

He chuckled and nodded.
“Back then in Berlin, Jane and I schooled together in the same elementary school. She always got bullied and jested cause she was…

★ FLASHBACK ★

“Fattie!!”

“Go away!”

“You’re so ugly!”

“We don’t wanna talk to you!”

“Nobody is gonna be your friend!”

The kids shouted at her, blowing raspberries and booing Jane who squ-atted, crying.

The biggest and eldest of the kids, probably the main bully walked to her and kicked her knees.

“Oww” She cried, painfully. Her face was red already.

“Why do you have to be in our cla-ss?? Why! I wanted that handsome lad to be our new cla-ssmate and not some fat girl like you! We don’t want you in our cla-ss so scram!” The bully who was actually a girl barked.

“Yes! Scram!” They all shouted.

The girl bent and pulled Jane’s little hair. She mo-aned painfully.

“Can you just go away? Your face irritates so much” She said.

“What are y’all doing?? Leave her alone!” Jayden who had been watching jumped in.

“Leave her alone! Y’all should scram!” He shouted, like he was ready for war and when they saw he wasn’t smiling neither was he joking, they all shuffled away.

Jayden ran to her and squ-atted. He slowly raised her face and wiped her tears on her chubby cheeks.

“Are you alright?” He asked, worriedly.

“Leave me alone. Its because of you” She sobbed, and stood up.

She was already walking away from him when his voice stopped her small and plumpy legs.

“Jane…I’m sorry” He said.

She blinked her eyes in amusement and quickly turned to him.

“We aren’t in the same cla-ss. So, how do you know my name? I don’t even know yours”

“I’ve been watching you” He smiled and scratched his head.

She looked at him from head to toe.

“Why?”

“I like you” He said, quickly.

“What! Do you know what it means for a boy to like a girl?”

“I do. I heard she becomes your girlfriend after that” Jayden said.

“We are too little for that. I don’t even like you. And why do you like me? I’m…so fat and ugly”

“No! You’re so pretty. Your weight fits you perfectly. I actually like you cause you’ve a great personality and you’re sweet. Forget those things you just mentioned. It means nothing”

“Whats your name?” She asked instead. written by sommy pearl f.

“Are you accepting me?” He smiled.

“No!” She snapped.

“Hmm” He pouted, mo-aning.

“We can be ti-ght friends though. What’s your name?” She asked.

“Jayden Jovel. You said we can be ti-ght friends right?”

She nodded.

“But I like you. I want us to go on a date”

She laughed.

“A date. How much do you have to spend on a date? Do you know how a date looks and feels like”

“Hmm…Hmm” He nodded.
“I’ve watched TV dramas on that”

“I won’t accept you now” She said, flatly and a sad expression occu-pied his face.

“Oh! Adults are free to date. How about we just grow up and date. We could get married too. How about that?” She smiled.

“Oh! Yes! That cool. Let’s make a promise to wait for each other and date…no.matter what happens” He brou-ght his pinky finger forward.

She linked it with hers and they smiled at each other.

“Stamp! Done!” They said after clashing their thumbs together.

“So, we are best friends and childhood sweethearts?” Jayden asked as he held her hand.

They were walking away now. They also had their bag packs on their back.

“Yes! Wait, What’s a childhood sweetheart?” Jane asked.

“You don’t know what a childhood sweetheart is? Don’t you watch movies?, Don’t worry, you can over to my place once in a while and I’ll tell you. I’ve a great father”

“What of your mother?” She asked.

“Hmm…Talking about my mother. She sent me errand after school. Mind if you accompany me?” Jayden looked at her.

She looked back at him.
“Where?”

“Office Lane” He replied and she wide-ned her eyes.

“Does it mean we have to cross that busy road?? Mum asked me never to cross or go there But, I’ll do it for you. we just need to obey the traffic lights and road rules” She giggled.

He looked at her and smiled.
“Thank you, Jane” He whispered holding her hand ti-ghter, which was beginning to warm his cold palm.

★ PRESENT DAY ★

“So, after the accident? Did you two meet again?” Whitney asked.

“Yeah. we stayed with each other for more 5 years. However, we were later separated. She moved to China with her parents and I came back to USA, my homeland. I also.met John and hus mum jere. She changed and is remorseful but Dad doesn’t want her back. Also right now, I don’t know where Jane is. We lost all contacts to reach each other” Jayden replied.

Whitney sighed and pulled him closer again to her che-st.

“You. Jane. You both had one, not so nice childhood but you don’t have to worry. I’m here now” Whitney whispered with a small smile.

“Whitney?”

“Hmm?”

“What am I gonna do…if we meet again? He asked, slowly and Whitney’s face became blank.
