The haunted bride - Season 2 - Episode 4

However, for every demon power, was a superhuman that could turn that dark power around.

All of a sudden, the screen was filled with glowing red and orange monarch butterflies. They filled everywhere. They swam towards Qhan. The only human that was courageous enough, to stand against this powerful demon, was Riovo. His mother had been a demon, while his father was human.
“I am Riovo! Slayer of demons! Lord of the human realm. I will destroy Qhan!”

These were his last words, before the trailer came to an end. And the illumination that took control of the screen vanished. The lights in the room came on. And when Aniekan could see the faces of the people that he had been talking to, he noticed that they were all up on their feet.

They offered him a thunderous round of clapping and cheering.

“Thank you, thank you…” Aniekan smiled.
He always loved his team of writers and designers. They worked hand in hand, so he couldn’t take the credit alone.

“I want to use this opportunity to thank all the writers, designers, video creators and editors and everyone who made this game special.” The clapping continued, and was spiced with whistling.

When the applause died down, Aniekan pulled in a deep breath. He had already discussed, hiring a new writer for a subtheme of Demon Hall. He was going to give Elena the chance to shine. The game she would be working on, would be “Demon Hall 2.” At first, the board members didn’t want to agree, after realizing that she had been the same blogger that had almost ruined his career.

He had tried to convince them, but they still wouldn’t budge. He decided to give Elena the opportunity by his veto power at the Chief Managing Officer, it was left for her to make a name for herself , and prove to all those who didn’t believe in her, that they were wrong.
“Already, hundred Asian Toy companies have pre-ordered for Demon Hall1. As part of a marketing strategy, and a way to make more money for us all…” he paused as the crowd chuckled.

“I’d like to start another video game, which will drop some months after Demon Hall 1. It is going to be a different storyline, but still on battles between the human and demon realms. It will be Demon Hall 2.
Although the Federal Government of Nigeria have ignored our young and growing population, I will not follow that path. Demon Hall2 is going to be run by the young population of Games Village, and under the leadership of an experienced writer, who will provide us with an interesting plot…”

Everyone was shocked at his announcement.
Elena shifted uncomfortably in her chair, as she noticed that Aniekan was looking her direction. Definitely, he couldn’t offer her such a delicate and important position. She had almost destroyed everything that he had built!

“Why do I have a feeling that you are that young writer?” Seun whispered to her ears.
Elena quickly pulled away, “I cannot be. I am sure there are many young and talented writers in here.”

She was about to say more, when Aniekan bellowed her name. It seemed the whole world dropped at her feet. Was he joking? Elena found it difficult to breathe. She had never imagined this sort of luck. Writing a plot for the tech-billionaire seemed unreal. A man like Aniekan had enough money to hire the best writers for the job. She wasn’t good enough!

“Remember what I told you. To survive in Games Village, you must always stand up for yourself. The longer you wait in that chair, the swifter people would see that you doubt your own self.” Seun could tell that Elena was too shocked to move.

Seun’s words had a way to work on her psyche. Elena nodded and rose to her feet. Tears stung her eyes as she stared at the podium. Aniekan was smiling at her! He looked so handsome…

Focus! She reminded herself as she marched majestically towards the podium.
Many of the workers were surprised to see her. They assumed that Elena was as good as Aniekan had informed them. They had no problem welcoming a new member to the board. All but one was happy…
Regina’s golden eyes were filled with envy and rage. How could Aniekan skip her and pick Elena? Though she worked temporarily as his secretary, she had playfully told Aniekan about her writing and drawing skills. But he had ignored her!

“Fool, I will make sure you don’t last long in here…”
Ada had been in her office working on some files for a client who wanted to sue an N.G.O for not renewing his contract, as they promised. Since her fallout with Aniekan, she had decided to focus on other rich clients. Aniekan had grown above her, she could no longer control him. But she wouldn’t give up so easily. All she wanted was to get Elena out of the picture, just like she had done to Imaobong. Maybe then, he would understand that there is no lawyer as perfect as she was.
“Mr. Bankole, are you sure about this?” She tossed a light blue bulletin in front of her client. If she decided to take this case, she would sue the N.G.O for a hundred million naira, nothing less. This money would cover up for the loss she’d incurred when Aniekan had refused to sue Elena.

The bald headed man nodded.
“If I weren’t sure about suing them, I wouldn’t be in your office…” he nodded.
Ada settled in the chair and clasped her hands together, in readiness to tell him everything that they needed to win the case. She was about starting when the opening of the door, rudely interrupted her. Her brows knotted in a frown. She wasn’t expecting anyone, and her secretary knew better than to let anyone in, while she was having an important meeting.

The frown on her face softened as she noticed that it wasn’t an ordinary person. Ese had come to see her. And from the look on his face, things weren’t okay.
“Mr. Bankole, I am very sorry but we will have to meet in a very private place.” Ada rose to her feet.

The older man was baffled, “This is your office, it is supposed to be private.” The man was disappointed; he was desperate to win this case.

Ada smiled, “The walls have ears. I will text you an address for our next meeting. I want you to think carefully about what you want. Once I take on this case, there will not be any turning back.”

The man shrugged, Ada was one of the best lawyers in the country. It wasn’t a secret that she also worked for the tech-billionaire. She dealt with high profile clients. This was the reason that he trusted her.

“I’ll see you some other time then,” Mr. Bankole rose to his feet and walked out of the office, almost bumping into a rough looking man, who somehow looked familiar.
When the man was gone, Ada rushed and shut the door.

“What are you doing here dear? You know better than to show up unannounced! That man is one of my wealthy clients. I can milk a hundred million from him. Don’t spoil this.” She playfully waved her middle finger across his face. Even though Ese knew that Ada was joking with him, he wasn’t in the mood.
It was his turn to frown.
“Have you come up with a concrete plan yet?” Ese asked in a calm but deadly voice. Ada could recognize the tone in his voice. He was enraged by something. She moved slightly away from him, knowing his tendency to become violent, whenever he was angry.
Still afraid that he may pick something and hit her, Ada moved to a table at the far corner of her office, where she usually had her breakfast. She grabbed a kettle and poured some hot water into a mug. She would have some tea to relax her, while listening to her boyfriend.
“Did you hear me?” Ese followed her to the table.

As gently as possible, Ada placed the ceramic kettle on the table and abandoned the orange mug altogether. Her hands shivered. Her breathing slowed.
“What plan are you talking about?” Ada asked.

Ese scoffed, “So you don’t even know about it? Don’t tell me Aniekan hasn’t contacted you in the past few hours. The news is everywhere. The papers and magazines and blogs are carrying it. You’re supposed to know everything about him!”
Ada didn’t like the fact that he was raising his voice on her. She hated being subjugated or treated like scum.

“Okay, I know you tend to get violent when you’re upset, but don’t yell at me.
