The haunted bride - Season 2 - Episode 5

“Okay, I know you tend to get violent when you’re upset, but don’t yell at me. I don’t know what you’re talking about!” She fired back.

He bit his lip and ran his deadly eyes over her fragile frame. He felt like hitting that body against the wall and clutching his fingers around her throat. But he controlled his reckless urge. Ada was an asset to him. Never in his life, had he found a woman who matched his passion and love for many things. She was a special woman, and he couldn’t do anything to hurt her. It was with her help, who he intended to pull down the one who had taken everything away from him, Aniekan.

“I went to see Aniekan today at the office. You know our plan, to get the prototype of Demon Hall and sell it off. I noticed there was a meeting at Games Village, right before my eyes, he elected Elena Benjamin to be the lead writer for Demon Hall2.”

Ada’s eyes dilated in surprised, “I don’t understand…” she rose to her feet and fixed her eyes on Ese.

“I don’t need to repeat myself. I told you to let me kill that stupid girl at once, but you insisted that we take things slow. Her presence in Aniekan’s life would only complicate our plan! He wants to design another game, and from the look that I’d seen on his face, he is in love with Elena. Demon Hall2 could be a bigger deal than the first game.

We need to act fast.”

Ada rammed her fingers against the wooded table. Her fingers cracked and blood flowed across her pale white flesh. Aniekan had never taken a decision without asking her advice. Why had things suddenly changed?
“He always consulted me, before making any business move. From the time he accepted partners with some people and firms, Aniekan always let me in. That lowlife b---h intends to destroy the relationship I have with your brother.” Ada was broken and hurt. Was Aniekan going to fire her? Did he have another lawyer already?

Ese could feel her pain. He felt betrayed as well, as there was a time, Aniekan used to tell him everything.

“So what do we do? I say we kill her fast. That would bring him back to his senses.” Ese was bent on destroying Elena Benjamin.
Ada pressed her lips together and glared at her bloodied fist. The pain stung her deeply. She had bled because of Elena. The blogger was going to pay for this bloodshed.

“No, I insist that we take thing slowly…” Ada sighed. A puckish smile ate up her face, and it confused Ese. There was nothing amusing about what was happening. Why was she smiling?

Ada sensed his bafflement.
“Don’t worry darling, I will handle it. I want you to play it cool. We will handle Elena first, and then you will handle Aniekan all by yourself. Save your energy for the day that we will need it.” And she had a feeling that the day they will conquer all was very near.
Ese took her advice. She would let Ada handle things her own way, for now. But if she failed, he would step in.

“If we take her out too fast, it could raise suspicion. I want her death to be natural.” Ada moved to the other table, where she usually shared with her clients and fetched her bag. She unzipped the leather material and pulled out a vial which contained a reddish powder.

Confidently, she marched back to the other table, and dropped it in front of Ese.
“What is this?” Ese eyed the vial impatiently.

Ada winked, “Open it.”
He was hesitant, but he decided to listen to her. Slowly, he pulled the cap of the vial. A sweet smelling flavor filled his nostrils. The reddish substance smelt like a mix of apples and cherries.

“What’s this?” He asked again.
“Some call it “Silent Venom,” while others call it, “Cherry Powder.” The name doesn’t matter, as long as it serves its purpose in the body of the victim. I will sink this into Elena’s blood. When I am done with her, people will think that she contacted a venereal disease.” Ada carried the vial slowly to her nostrils and sniffed it.
“That’s a good plan. I will keep an eye on her always.” Ese reassured Ada of his support.

“I will get close to her. She may know something about the prototype. But this doesn’t mean you should give up the search. We have to get our hands on the original game design. We will make it ours.”
Ese nodded in agreement. Ada was about to tell him more about what she thought was best, especially the fact that Idara’s presence would bring difficulty into their plans when her phone buzzed.
“Let me get that, it could be important.”
She took the call at third ring. It was her client, Mr. Bankole.

“Good afternoon sir…” she waited for him to speak.

“I am sorry to disturb you Ada, but I think I forgot one of my phones in your office. Can you send someone to bring it over?” He asked politely.

Ada ran her eyes over the side of the table where the man sat. Indeed, he had forgotten his Samsung S9 in her office. She moved over to his side and grabbed the device at once. She would send her secretary to deliver the note to him.

“I will do that sir. I have seen the phone.”
When she was finished with the call, she returned to Ese.

“Who was that?” He made himself tea.
“Mr. Bankole. He has been my client for many years. He works with the Little Hannah Foundation. They plan to drop him this year, without renewing his contract.”

Ese remembered the steely eyes of the man that Ada spoke of. Normally, he had no business trying to read people. But he didn’t like a thing about Mr. Bankole.

“Just be careful with him. My spirit doesn’t trust him.” Ese replied, and Ada chuckled.
“Since when did you become a mind reader?” She teased.
“I am not a mind reader. Just be careful Ada.”

Elena had cried at the conference hall, when Aniekan had asked her to climb the podium with him. It was unbelievable! She had read stories of people who met celebrities, and their lives were touched. One that came to mind, was Jumoke, the bread seller who’d photo-bombed TY Bello’s photo session.
She was the bread seller in this case, and Aniekan was her TY Bello. She didn’t need a soothsayer to explain to her what was going on. Definitely, he had better writers, but he had chosen her for a purpose. He was giving her a platform to start. He was giving her an opportunity to glow. She couldn’t mess up. He was testing her.
The people had clapped her. After the meeting, the older members of the boards had congratulated her, and advised her to be very serious with her new responsibility. Some asked her to follow Aniekan’s footsteps. After the meeting, a short guy was asked by Aniekan to direct Elena to her office.
“You are new here. You are very lucky that the boss chose you…” the guy ignited a conversation.
Elena had missed Seun in the hall. He hadn’t told her which department he was working with. Now that this guy had started a conversation, maybe she would use this opportunity to find out more about Seun, because from the way she had seen it, he was trying to avoid some questions. But he had no problem, prying into her life.
