The haunted bride - Season 2 - Episode 9

Hey! You cannot just come into my house and roam about!” Aniekan pushed away his fears and decided to chase after the intruder. But as he ran, he noticed that he was growing weaker, and weaker. He seemed that a heavy burden had been placed upon his shoulders, that he found it difficult to walk.

The figure floated away into the darkness that lay ahead. Once it was out of sight, the bulbs began to work again. And Aniekan’s strength returned. When he stared at the corridor, he noticed that the door at the end was tightly locked. And the two windows weren’t open.

Only two things came into his mind; he was either having a nervous breakdown, or he had just seen a…
“No, that isn’t possible. Ghosts aren’t real. Once a person is dead, they are dead forever and cannot come back to life.” He reassured himself with these words. Quickly, he spun on his heel and walked back to the entrance of the White House.

He needed to wake the security officers up. Maybe the thief had a special place of entrance and exit. He had to tell everyone in the house! Aniekan hadn’t gone far, when he’d spotted another figure in the kitchen. He exhaled sharply, when he noticed that his brother Efe was the one.

Efe who had a terrible nightmare had woken up to make himself a cup of chocolate drink, so he could sleep better. While sipping from the cup, he sensed that someone was watching him. His fighting instincts came up immediately. When he turned around, he noticed that his brother had returned.
“You,” Efe dropped the cup on the table slab and turned his full attention on his younger brother. He didn’t anyone to tell him that Aniekan wasn’t alright. He knew his brother inside out. He could tell when Aniekan was hiding something from him; when he was worried and when he was troubled. The look in his brother’s eyes wasn’t that of the aforementioned. Aniekan was afraid.
“Are you alright? You look like you have just watched “Annabel,” Ese chuckled and grabbed his cup again. The horror movie was one of Ada’s favorite. She loved horrors, but he had never found anything scary or intriguing about the demonic looking doll.
Aniekan’s lips shivered. He found it difficult to speak. Telling his brother or anyone else that he had seen a figure in black was senseless. What would they think of him?
“I am fine.” He decided to play tough. Aniekan walked towards the array of glasses on a large tray and picked one. He would drink water to calm his nerves.
Ese emptied the delicious brown content in his cup.

“You are good at many things, but not cover up.”

“What is that supposed to mean?” Aniekan gritted his teeth as he pulled open the fridge.
“Talk to me bro, why do you look so afraid?”Ese wouldn’t let it go. He needed to be very close to his brother right now; he had to try everything to lay his hands on the prototype.

Aniekan closed his eyes and tried to push out the image of the steely black eyes that had stared at him at the dead of the night.
“I saw something,” he was done being tough. He was going to tell his brother alone.
“What did you see?” Ese arched a brow.
“It seems there is an intruder in the house. Did you hear any footsteps or notice any strange movement when you came into the kitchen?” Aniekan twisted his question, so he wouldn’t sound crazy.
Ese hadn’t noticed anything.

“Nope, what happened? I doubt if there is an intruder in our home. Maybe the maid or Elena was having a midnight tour or sleepwalking.”

Aniekan shook his head. He couldn’t believe any of the things his brother had suggested. No one has sleepwalked.

“Elena is sleeping, I just came out of her room and…” he swallowed.

“What?” Ese’s heart jolted. So that little b---h had her brother eating from her snaky fingers. He had to report the situation to Ada.
“I know this may sound crazy, or maybe I was imagining something. But the minute I stepped out Elena’s room, the lights leading to my room went off. And I saw a dark figure that vanished right before my eyes. I felt cold all over.”

Ese felt another jolt, this one was lighter. Ada had mentioned something similar earlier, but he hadn’t believed her. He hadn’t taken it seriously, because he didn’t believe in the existence of supernatural beings. But now that Aniekan mentioned something similar, it worried him.

“You need to breathe, I don’t think you saw a ghost. Maybe someone is trying to play tricks on us. Ada had mentioned something like this.” Ese replied.

“Why would someone play such a prank? Who could it be?” Aniekan rubbed his chin thoughtfully. Ese wasn’t making any sense. Elena was asleep. Ada was asleep.
Ese quickly remembered his discussion with Ada at her office. If they were going to kill Aniekan and poison Elena, they needed the maid out of the mansion. Maybe this was the opportunity to frame her.

“Why don’t we watch and see?” Ese winked.

He couldn’t wait to share his devious plan to get Idara out of the house. It would work like magic! Aniekan thought that he had seen a glint of mischief in Ese’s eyes. What did his brother mean by his statement?
Well, he had enough for one day. He needed to rest very well and prepare for the meeting he would have with Seun’s uncle.
“I must sleep now bro, see you in the morning,” Ese smiled.
Aniekan returned the smile, “Goodnight bro.”

“Goodnight.”
Even while his brother had been with him in the kitchen, Aniekan felt that someone was watching him. He just couldn’t shake that feeling off. He didn’t have an explanation to this. He hadn’t taken any alcoholic drink while hanging out with Seun, so what could have been the cause of this paranoia?
When Ese had returned to the room, he noticed that Ada wasn’t on the bed. She had gone to the bathroom to ease herself. He sank into the bed joyously. Finally, they will both have the opportunity to execute their plans. Idara’s presence made things difficult for them.
“Where did you go?” Ada yawned as she stepped out of the bathroom. She wasn’t wearing any clothes. Her waists beads danced with each step, and the sight of the peachy pearls, pleased her lover very much.
He explained that he was finding it difficult to sleep.

“I had to make myself a cup of chocolate,” he shifted to accommodate her, as she climbed into bed.
“You’re smiling,” Ada noticed the light in his eyes.

“Yes baby, I have finally found the perfect way to get that maid out of the house.”
Ada was curious, “Tell me.”
“While having my drink, my brother walked into the room with a startled expression. His face was white as a sheet. He looked terrified, like had just seen the devil!”
Ada rolled her eyes, she didn’t have the patience for his hyperbole.
“Come on darling, go straight to the point.”
Ese laughed and tickled her.
“You know I wonder what having the White House and all of his companies would feel like. Soon, our dreams would come to life.” He deliberately delayed in telling her what happened.

Ada frowned, “I have to catch enough sleep. My client, Mr. Bankole has made up his mind. We’re suing the N.G.O that refused to honor his contract.”

“Okay, my brother had been in Elena’s room all these while. When he stepped out of her room, he claimed that the lights that illuminated the corridor went off, and he came across a black figure. The fool thinks that he saw a ghost. Can you believe that?” Ese laughed.
