I looked at my hand at every interval. What will I tell my boss happened to me if he comes around eventually? I coined a lie: I fell down sir! That sounds right, isn’t it? Although he may not buy the idea but at least, that would still be better than telling him that a lady did this to me.
I switched on my phone eventually. Messages started flying in from my colleagues. Once it settled, I texted Deola, thanking her for her gracious action,
“Love, they say is mysterious. Thanks for showing me the ‘good’ side of love today. However, read this clearly: WE ARE DONE.”
I waited for her reply for more than 5mins, which never came. I turned my attention to calling my sister. She assured me of her coming but said she won’t be coming again that day. After the call, the sound a siren arrested the area. Two Police Vehiche parked at the supermarket. My heart started racing. “What have they come to do?”, I asked myself. Out of fear, I locked up my door, windows, switched off every bulb and relegated every sign that may suggest that someone is at home. While at it, Garfar rushed upstairs and b@nged my door. I opened up and he flew inside,
Me: What happened?
Garfar: Oga na Ini ooo. Dem say Ini e die. Police don come their shop.
Me: Ini died? How?
Garfar: Me I never know Oga.
Me: Ok. Go back to the gate and make sure nobody comes in.
Garfar: Oga me I no fit ooo.
Me: Why?
Garfar: Ha Oga, police wicked now. Dem go just arrest anybody wey them see Oga.
Me: My friend get out of here. Nobody is going to arrest you when you’ve done nothing wrong.
Reluctantly, he left. I called Janet to come around to keep me company cos I was afraid. She came eventually & almost cried when I told her the whole story.
