Few seconds later, ‘cold blue’ was audible from the hospital speaker, and a team of doctors were seen rushing to a particular ward.

Minutes later the doctor approached the woman.

“I am sorry ma’am. He didn’t make it!”
The woman held her daughter’s arm tight, hugged her. If not for him, she would have been dead now. He was at the wrong place at the right time. It still beat her imagination why he went
back to save her….someone he didn’t know.
Ten minutes later a nurse rushed to where the doctor was.

“I just noticed a rhythm on the heart monitor.”

‘”Call nurse bimbo fast.” The doctor said as he raced back to the ward where Sadiq was.

He is still alive?” the woman asked the nurse who was rushing back to the critical care unit
now. But she didn’t reply. She just rushed ahead, her cheeks shaking as she scampered to the unit.

Almost about an hour later they exited the unit. There was a more confident look on the doctor’s face now.

“What happened doctor?”
“It’s a rare case. It happens sometimes, the heart stops during resuscitation giving the impression that a patient is dead and the heart restart minute’s later.” he explained to the relived woman.

“So he is okay now?” she asked. That’s all she wanted to hear..whether he was alive or not.

“Yes he is okay. But I am afraid he may have a memory loss. I can’t really tell till he is fully
awake. Also he suffered a lot of burns to his body and face…really severe ones that has disfigured him. Normally I would advice that he undergo a face surgery, but the decision is left to you to make.”

The woman thought for about a minute.

“Let’s do the surgery.”

It was a small price to pay for the life of her daughter that he saved….It was a ridiculously
cheap price. She knew it wasn’t enough. So she called her husband who wasn’t around and
divulged everything to hm. Just like his wife, he was also very grateful and wanted her to take
care for him till he recovers fully.

Two months later he was recovering from the face surgery and hadn’t been discharged yet.

“How are you feeling now?” the woman asked Sadiq as he lay on the bed.

“I am fine. Who are you?” he asked. He didn’t know who she was…hell… he didn’t even know
who he was! All he knew was that he was in a hospital and he was weak, too weak to stand up
and walk about.

“I am your mother; Mrs. Sa’adatu.” she said to him. “Here is your little sister Hauwa.

You saved
her from dying.” she smiled at him and pulled her daughter closer to him.

They had decided to take care of him till he recovers fully, and since they had no idea who his relative were, they couldn’t just abandon him. She watched the local channels and went to the nearest police station if there would be anyone looking for him, but there wasn’t so they took him as their responsibility, at least till he recover his memory.

Hauwa was standing, without her clutches. She wasn’t disabled. During their inter house sport
she sprained her ankle and that was what necessitated the use of the clutches. She moved
closer to Sadiq. His face was different now from the one that carried her….a lot more different.
“What’s my name?” he asked.

She stared at him. “Mustafa….your name is Mustafa.” It was a name she wanted to give to
her next child, if she ever had a boy again.
