Must Read: Behind The Veil

“Mustafa.” he mumbled.

Later that night after they had left, he was alone in his ward. It was probably past twelve. He
couldn’t sleep as a result of a slight headache.

His room was dark, but the full moon’s light penetrated into the room, making half of the room
bright and the other dark. He heard the door knob to his room turn and the door pushed open. Walking in was a lady in a nurse uniform. She was fair in complexion; actually she was definitely a white lady, a white nurse. The door closed and she walked towards him, hands empty, her face still hidden by the darkness.
“Who is that?” he asked.
She took a step forward and the light from the room reflected on her face. She had a blonde hair
and a gorgeous small face.

“I’m Janelle…I know you don’t remember me.” she said to him. “It’s actually funny because you used to know a lot about me.”
As she spoke Mustafa just la!d there silently. Not sure what to say or do. He didn’t have the faintest idea who she was.

“Just for the record I never meant to harm you and I didn’t. I know none of this will make sense
to you. I am not even supposed to come back and tell you this, but I couldn’t resist…I just
needed you to know.”
She was standing close to the window. “The seer didn’t see the future, all he saw was what we
made him see, what was supposed to happen to you if had mated with me. It was all part of the
plan, the test…which you passed. Then the last test was with the little girl. You had your free will to run, to leave her and save your own life, but rather you chose to save her. If you had given in to my request, you would have been in the other side by now, you wouldn’t have survived.”

All these didn’t make a single sense to him.

Maybe she thought I was someone else, he
thought. The only part that made sense was the part she said he chose to save a girl. His mum
had told him earlier that he saved his sister. It was no big deal if he did. She was his sister after
all.

“Don’t worry; everything will make sense to you someday. For now, you are here to make things
right. To change what has been tempered with. Don’t worry, it will make sense to you.” she
smiled at him. “I will be leaving now, forever. My task with you is done; my next ‘Sadiq’ awaits
me.”

And she splattered into tiny fiery light, like fire flies, but more brighter and fiery. Through the tiny holes of the window net she scattered through and flew into the sky.
