“What’s happening here?” Mr. Animashaun asked, confused. For a minute he thought his wife had another kid that she didn’t tell him about.

Mrs. Animashaun had been convinced without doubt that this was her child, her son, her Sadiq.

His eyes were the first thing that drew her attention, and then his voice and finally the fact
that he was able to read the diary!
“This is our son! This is Sadiq!” Mrs. Animashaun proclaimed.
The diary fell from Asmau’s grip, landing on the floor. Humaira drew back, observing him. Mr.
Animashaun stood up, trying to make sense of what was going on.

As soon as they entered the compound he had gotten the rush, this rush of memory. Everything
began to come back to him, names, faces, events.

He remembered now, the bomb blast, the girl he tried to save, she was crippled and was lying on the floor. He was at a safe distant but decided to risk his life to save the girl who was lying on the floor.

He remembered it all now. Janelle; she came to the hospital and told him everything will make
sense some day. This was the day!

And so he narrated the whole incident to them and when he was done the floor was wet from
tears of joy. Now it made sense why Mrs. Sa’adatu had given him the diary. She wanted
him to take his time and remember his past himself. It all made sense now.

“Brother Sadiq!” Asmau ran into his arms. Not many words were exchanged. The hug which
lasted for minutes said a lot which words itself couldn’t express.

Humaira was dumbfounded. Even though prior his revelation she had thought that his voice
matched that of Sadiq, she never imagined that it was him.

“We should call the family that took care of you.” said Mrs. Animashaun.

“We have to meet with them.” added her husband.

Sadiq brought out his phone and dialed Alhaji Ibrahim’s number. Their conversation lasted for
twenty minutes and thereafter they said they were going to take the next available flight to Lagos.
