He was a sleek-looking fellow with an
expertise Jack knew no other officer could
bring to the job. “Good evening, Inspector
Jack,” he began. “What do we call this week,
eh? Bloody week?” They didn‟t get the joke, so
he quietly coughed. The week could be called
a bloody one due to the deaths recorded in
the Lupe Prison breakout the night before.

Now this. “We‟re out of luck this time,” he
continued. “Fingerprints are nowhere to be
found, even on the murder weapon. It‟s like
these guys knew what they were doing.

Meticulously, I mean. Nothing here seems out
of place except that dead body lying on the
floor. If the deceased had given them a hell of
a fight like the witness said, then he must
have been one hell of a fighter!” Then, at the
inquisitive stares he was getting from the
other two officers due to this comment, he
added, “There are no signs of struggle
anywhere, guys! I meant that as a joke, sorry!”
“Apology accepted,” snapped the inspector
and even Officer Kennedy drew back with
surprise.
“I heard there was a witness, sir,” resumed
Detective Ted after regaining his composure. “I
guess she really did have a lot to tell?” “Yes.
Well, let me save you the stress of looking for
prints in this haystack, Teddy,” began
Inspector Jack.“The girl said the murderer
goes by our man‟s name, think he‟s a
namesake?” And quickly: “That‟s a joke, Ted. I
know it is Nimrod…this looks like his work.”
“Well, then,” resumed the detective. “This
makes everything a whole lot easier, right?”
“Right…we just need to find him now.” “That
is, if he‟s still hanging around after this, sir,”
said Officer Kennedy. Jack nodded, but he
knew that finding Nimrod was now his top
priority. “Any word on Michael‟s
whereabouts?”
“No, sir. I think he is out of town, but a patrol
squad is going over to his place as we speak,”
said Kennedy. “They‟ll keep watch over the
place as usual and inform him of the danger
when he gets back.” “Keep me informed,
officer,” said Jack. “We‟ll have to start
looking for him even outside town in order to
let him know about this threat today. Spread
the word to all divisions outside Lupe as soon
as I leave you. He and his friends are in very
serious danger.” * * * Jack and Officer
Kennedy drove into the large compound of
Lupe Prison and he alighted as soon as the
bulky presence of the Comptroller appeared
before the building‟s main doors. He waved at
them and the police officers walked over to
where he stood. “Good day, officers. What
brings you to Lupe Prison today?” he
enquired. “Good day, sir,” Jack began. He
would forever be grateful to the man for
backing him up in court back when the police
was trying to keep Nimrod in jail after the
psycho had molested an inmate. “We came to
find out more about the escaped convict
called Nimrod when he was here.
Did he have any visitors when he was in
prison?” “Yes, he had a regular visitor, Allen
Abu. I will get his address when we get to my
office.” Both men followed him back to his
office and a quick system search produced the
said address. The comptroller quickly wrote
down the information on a piece of paper and
handed it to them. “That is the same contact
address we have for Nimrod.” “Alright, we will
check it out,” Jack said, thoughtfully. At
Allen‟s home, they were informed that Allen
moved out of the house three months ago and
nobody knew his where about. Jack was
convinced that it was Nimrod and Allen who
had murdered Glen. He couldn‟t help but think
that this Nimrod guy was crazy. The fellow
had just escaped from prison, yet he still goes
ahead to kill a citizen! This psycho must be
apprehended before the idiot causes more
havoc, thought the inspector. * * * Soon, their
orders arrived and they zealously delved into
the food. “We‟ll have to lie low for some time,
dude…!” Allen proposed as he ate, trying to
avoid the other man‟s eyes. “The cops will be
searching for us by now, so we gotta do this
for some time before taking Michael‟s
Waterloo to him!” “Yeah, sure!” mumbled
Nimrod, munching away. “I like the new
apartment. We can hide in it for some time,
and believe me; they won‟t find that place ten
years from now!”

Allen felt pleased after this remark. That was
a sought of approval from his master for
finding the secretive abode. “Got to get more
provisions, though!” he said before shoveling
a spoonful of rice into his mouth. “I will do
that as soon as we leave here!” “Not me…,”
began his partner, whose attention had been
drawn to a wantonly dressed girl who‟d just
entered the restaurant alone. “Think I‟ll be
needing some company tonight!” “Yo, man,”
agreed Allen, understanding perfectly what he
meant. “Just be careful, though. Hide the
body in the backyard when you‟re through
with her. I‟ll help you dispose of it in the river
tomorrow.” “And who said I‟ll kill her when I‟m
through with her?” “Well…just figured, boss!”
“Well, figure straight, alright?” The other man
nodded slowly. “You‟re the boss, man.

You‟re
the boss.”

They finished their meal in silence, Nimrod
watching the girl with the corner of his eyes
as she took a seat opposite their table and
pushed back her short skirt a little, feigning
ignorance of the attention this little action
immediately garnered for her from almost all
the male occupants in the room. This Nimrod
did not like and he stood up without a word
and went straight to her. Allen quickly
finished his rice and gulped down his last beer
before paying for their meal. “Looking for
something, Mister?” She was haughty and
disrespectful. He liked that in a girl. “Love, my
dear…L. O. V. E.” “It is going to cost you,” she
quickly added, pulling up her mini a bit more.
“No problem. I have a car. Follow me.” “To
your place?” She sounded so inquisitive.
“Yeah?” “Gonna cost you even more.” “We‟ll
discuss that in the car.” Allen was waiting for
them at the Peugeot.

They both got in the back. The girl first and
then Nimrod. “I can do you both now if you
want,” she began, looking Allen over with
large brown eyes. “Only it will cost you even
more.” “Shut up!” She fell silent but did not
get out of the car. That was her second
mistake, Allen thought as he started the
engine and rolled the sedan out of the parking
lot. Her first was meeting them.
