Must Read: Behind The Veil

The destiny was a circle, pulling three families together, pulling Sadiq into the family that Alhaji
Najib needed help from and using Sadiq to answer his ten years of seeking an audience with
Alhaji Ibrahim. So it was a circle of destiny, between three families, three unsuspecting families.

“Don’t worry Asmau. We won’t be forcing you to come with us, because we will come and join you here.” said Alhaji Ibrahim. They knew how it was impossible to jump out of the blue and rid a child of her seventeen years of memories with another family. They knew she was already tied to this family.

They walked to the balcony.

“God so have it, I was planning on building a massive extension of my company here in Lagos.

And I intend to manage it, in which case we would have to relocate to Lagos.” said Alhaji
Ibrahim as the families gathered at the balcony.

“What do you say we become neighbors again?” he asked, extending a handshake to Mr.
Animashaun.

“That would be perfect!” said Mr. Animashaun.

“But I doubt if any of the houses here are available for rent.”
“I didn’t say anything about rent. Why not just buy this house next to yours?” he scrutinized the
house.

It was getting interesting for them and they observed the house.

“The landlord will never sell.” said Mrs. Animashaun.

“I will give him an offer he can’t reject.”

Alhaji Ibrahim smiled.

It was late in the evening now. The house became crowded all of a sudden, same house that
for the past five years had become a sad dwelling, but now it looked beautiful with laughter and
conversations. At one end of the living room were Mr. and Mrs. Animashaun and Mr. and Mrs.
Ibrahim indulging in a dialogue, talking about their past, about how they’ve been and about how they intend to purchase the house beside them and make it a family house for both family.

At the other end of the living room were Sadiq, Humaira, Asmau and Hauwa discussing. Hauwa
narrated to them how Sadiq beyond all odds ran back and saved her life. She told them how he
ran while the terrorist chased them.

The house for once seemed almost complete.

“Oh look. Vanessa tried to call me.” said Asmau after seeing the missed call on her phone.

“Call her.” said Sadiq.

After three seconds of ringing she picked up.

“So what were you telling me the other time?” Vanessa asked instantly.

“Brother Sadiq is alive, he is here.” she said.

“What kind of joke is this? Give it to your mum.”

“Okay.” she shrugged and gave Mrs. Animashaun the phone.

“Good evening ma.” Vanessa greeted.

“You’ve been told the good news already?” Mrs. Animashaun asked Vanessa.

“What news ma?” Vanessa asked.

“Your best friend is alive. He is here with us right now.”
“I don’t understand ma. Who?”
“Sadiq. It’s a miracle.” Mrs. Animashaun voice revealing her happiness.

Vanessa didn’t know what to say or think.

“Let me give him the phone.” Mrs. Animashaun said.

“Hey V.” said Sadiq.
Vanessa’s heart almost exploded! For the past five years no one has called her ‘V’ because the
only person who called her that was….
“Sadiq?” she asked.

It’s me. I know how crazy this is. But I will explain everything to you when we meet. When
are you coming?”

She was quiet for seconds. She didn’t know whether to cry or laugh. There was a conflict of
emotion in her.

“I am supposed to come next week, but I will be on the next available flight now.” she said.

“Can’t wait to see you!”
