There was grave silence in the car as Gabriel tried as much as possible not to start any conversation with her. But on a contrary, his brain doesn’t seem to process that fact.

He wasn’t the type who was always into ladies but the way April carried herself thrilled him. After a while, he requested for her phone pulling her off guard again.

‘ What for? Thought I’m taking you home? ‘

She questioned.

‘ Sort of but I need to call someone who’s very important to me, she must be worried sick already. Please? ‘

He made a funny face.

She stretched her phone to him and he punched in numbers and dialled.

‘ Hello. ‘

He said immediately the call was picked.

‘ it’s me Gabi. ‘

‘ Calm down, I’m fine. ‘

‘ I know, I know you were worried sick but your baby is perfectly fine. ‘

( Baby? Such a flirt. He’s even got a wife!) April muttered within herself.

‘ I’ll be home soon. ‘

‘ Bye… Love you . ‘

He ended the call.

‘ you wouldn’t mind if I call another number right? ‘

‘ Not at all. ‘

He dialled another number.

‘ Hey! It’s me. ‘

‘ I know you’d recognize my voice even in your sleep. ‘

‘ Okay, I’m close to your house. ‘

( Oh my goodness! Such a cheat!) April clicked her tongue.

‘ Okay, see you in a bit. ‘

He ended the call and handed her phone back to her.

‘ Thanks. ‘ he said.

She took her phone without saying a word. After a while, She stopped in front of a big green gate and he stepped down.

‘ Thanks for the lift. I really appreciate it. ‘

She nodded. Only the mere sight of Gabi was beginning to irritate her already. Why do men cheat? She wondered.

From her point of view, he looked too good to be such a despicable person.

‘ Um… If you don’t mind… ‘

He was cut short before he could finish by a pretty young lady who stepped out the gate.

‘ Gabi! ‘

She called happily and she jumped on him.

April didn’t take a chance but drove off almost immediately .

GABRIEL

Such a grumpy lady, she couldn’t even wait to talk to me. I’d have really loved to see her again.

‘ I can see someone is beginning to hang out. ‘

Stephanie made a funny face.

Gabi laughed. He wasn’t the type who likes going into details.

‘ She’s beautiful though. Who’s she? ‘

‘ Ow! The grumpy lady. ‘

‘ Now that’s rude Dude . ‘

‘ She refused telling me her name. ‘

‘ How come you ended up in her car if you don’t know her? ‘

‘ Such a long story. ‘

‘ I’m ready to listen. ‘

She replied as she pulled him inside.

‘ Um… My car broke down on the road then I realised I wasn’t with my wallet or my phone. I was stranded and then she drove by, I flagged and she stopped. We had a little argument and here I am. ‘

‘ Argument? That’s so like you but anyways, how did you end up without your wallet and phone this early morning? Don’t tell me you didn’t sleep at home. ‘

‘ Nah… I didn’t. ‘

‘ Oh! Really? If my memory serves me right, you’ve only been in the country for just a week so where and who did you go out with? ‘

Typical Steph, always policing me around like we’re still kids. She’s been my best friend since forever and not for once have I regretted knowing her.

‘ You know, this is one thing I miss about you? ‘ I laughed as I placed my hand across her shoulder.

‘ Don’t even try to avoid my question! ‘

‘ Okay,, yes I slept out. I just wanted to enjoy the country, explore a little before leaving and yes again, I went out with Harry but later on he left me with some ladies who left me stranded ‘ I said scratching my head waiting for her reprimand.

‘ Oh my goodness! That little mischievous brat and I thought you were the grown up one! ‘

‘ Of course I am… I mean, you’re just two days older than I am. ‘

‘ Oh shut up! ‘ she stood on her toes to hit my head. ‘ you’re so lucky that lady saved your ass. ‘

‘ That’s so much a forgotten history. I wasn’t with my phone to get her number and so the possibility of me ever seeing her again is more than slim. ‘

He replied disappointedly

‘ if you aren’t with your phone, whose phone did you call me with? ‘

Then reality hit Gabi.

‘ Oh yeah! You’re so smart. ‘

He laughed .

‘ of course I am so, case settled. Call her later and thank her properly and please I don’t want to hear or see you hanging out with whores. Your mates are already married. ‘

‘ Yeah and how’s your husband? The thief that stole my potential wife away from me. ‘

‘ oh really? ‘

We laughed as she dragged me inside.

‘ What are you having for breakfast? ‘

‘ Nothing… I just need to take a bath and run off. I’ve got a meeting to attend and then I’ll be back. ‘

‘ oh! ‘

‘ My clothes? ‘

‘ Settled. Go to the guest room. ‘

‘ You’re such a darling .’

I hurried inside to take a shower.
